There are many hall of famers i can name that only beat 2 or 3 other hall of famers. Mayweather has beat two future hall of famers amd when he beats de la hoya, he is going into the hall of fame, nuff said.

win, lose, draw, or no contest against de la hoya, floyd's going to the HOF already.

I agree. I think he is Mr Pound 4 Pound.

I personally feel that beating delahoya will not prove anything ...Delahoya is a business man now... he aint tryin to box no more.
I respect your opinion, but I think you're wrong. DLH still has that boxing heart, and he still is a warrior, baying for his next opponents blood.

Floyd has to beat DLH and Antonio Margorita, then his legend is sealed.

Talked about it in the pub tonight. Those two scraps make Floyd a legend.

So beating Margarito who has beaten nobody worth mentioning will make Floyd a legend? I don't agree at all with that.

Im a fan of Mayweather, have all the respect for him in the world as a boxer. However, Oscar is not even the best fighter at this weight. Oscar hasnt been good in years. Hes just a big name. Leanord went up to Middleweight and fought arguably the best Middleweight ever and beat him. After a long layoff even.

If this was after DLH's win over Vargas then yeah this would push him to legend status. I still think Mayweather is an all time great as far as skills go, but his resume isnt there yet. He can beat anyone in the planet from 140-147. Another scenerio I would rather have seen is him against Winky Wright. Wright, the best fighter at 154 for a while now would have been the biggest win of Mayweather's career.

Leonard fought some big names... Mayweather has been lagging it these past years. How you gonna say he is all ready a legend because he is a four division champ Oscar is a six division champ... by your logic Oscar is one of the greatest then.

What the **** is all this talk about "Mayweather and "Legend"?

Floyd Mayweather will go into the HOF, almost surely, but that honestly doesn't mean much.

Again, people abuse words like "Legend" and "Greatness".

Oscar has good wins on paper, but many of his opponents were pernell's leftovers or chavez's leftovers. Oscar arguably lost the 4 most important fights of his career. Oscar needs this win more than floyd does.

Floyd is gonna make HOF and be a great. However I think De La Hoya is a career defining fight and if he wins that then he deserves to be mentioned with boxing's bests. You only truely realise when a fighter is a great when they retire/die
