I tell you what.. ask Chad Dawson sometime... ask him who it was in his opinion that made him turn the corner towards becoming a real professional fighter.. who showed him how to really jab, go to the body and approach fights in a professional manner and mindset. I already have a good idea what he will say. He had a very sharp amateur trainer who started him out and brought him along but amateur and pro is different... he has had several different pro trainer but only one person do that for him. I bet I know who that was.

If I recall correctly, it was you who brought him up in the amateur system?

Cunningham, something like that. I forget his name. He doesn't look like a cop, he looks like a barber.

Tell ME something...you think Senior is a great trainer? Tell me WHY? Tell me exactly why you say that. Guaranteed you will come up with NOTHING. Allyou kno wis what you read. You say he is a great trainer yet you have no clue what he does in the gym, what he says, what his ideas and philosophies are etc. I may or may not be able to train afighter from a young age to deal with a Mayweather, of course. Jose Rivera is a guy I trained for two fights in his mid 30's when he had already been boxing for 16 years. As a trainer I or anyone can only work with what you have, hoping to get the most out of what you have to work with. I hope you arent actually foolish enough to believe Mayweather Sr. or anyone for that matter can just take ANY fighter and make him elite. If you think that... you should stop watching, posting, reading and thinking about boxing right now.
Iceman you prolly didn't mean to hate, but you came off that way. Since I've been on here, you've never been known to start mess and it is ok to think that maybe Floyd Sr is not that good of trainer. But you didn't present any facts, stat, or any kind of data to support that. So im taking it has your opinion that he is not that good and the way you said it sounded like a straight hater!! Now I don't know if he is a great trainer but I know that he has trained some guys and gals worth mentioning and they have been pretty successful. i don't think he raised them and blessed with their abilities either and i dont think I suggested that he did. All I know is that Floyd Sr says he is a great trainer and most think so.

No, I didn't bring Chad up as an amateur. I knew him back then and worked his corner at a national tournament when his coach couldn't make it but I didn't start him out, no

I have to disagree.. I dont think there are a million people in the industry that think he is a great trainer... good trainer, of course, but many are under the impression that he has magical powers or something and it is based LARGELY on him convincing them of such things with his self pomotion. I am not a hater, I am honest. I mean you say he is so good but you cannot back it up with anything. Just because you see a guy in the corner on TV it doesn't always mean he is responsible for anything. Put it this way, if you put me in Roy Jones corner back in the mid 90's he would still look spectacular whether I had any input or not. If certain guys are so great then how come they don't churn out multi million dollar fighters at a record pace?????

That his son is Floyd Jr, most say oh, he must be the primary catalyst of his success. It really isn't so, but I do think Floyd Sr is a decent trainer. Not a great one, not yet, because he still has shown an inability at times to remain cool in the corner and things like that. But I can't assess further cuz I've never been in the gym with him.

Some say that Emmanuel Steward isn't a great trainer, in fact another trainer who might or might not be in my signature said so. But the truth of the matter is that he has achieved great success nonetheless. He is a terrific manager, I know that firsthand.

But as far as it being ration, it was just Scully's opinion. He could be wrong, he could be right. It's an opinion.

What do you think of the guy in my sig, Nettles Nasser? He currently trains Henry Crawford, Jerson Ravelo, and Omar Sheika.
