i've agreed with many of your comments but not this one.

toney has always put the work in, sparred thousands of rounds, etc.

a torn achillies, and bicep/tricep tear will go along way to slowing anyone down.

        No

Age has ruined James Toney, just as it ruined Louis, Ali, Holmes, leonard, hearns, Duran, you name it.

The only exceptions are george foreman and Hopkins and Foreman was a freak of nature and he was beaten up by some mediocre fighters late in his career (Alex Stewart, Axel Schultz, Morrison). Hopkins has slowed considerably as well. It is a young man's game.

Every fighter is done when they are 38. yeah Toney could beat allot of heavie. Holmes beat Mercer when he was 42. But against a top heavyweight he simply doesn't have the reflexes anymore.

The James Toney of 2003 or 2004 would have slapped the **** out of Sam Peter, even the "new and improved Peter"

Exactly, Toney simply aged like everyone else in the history of the human race.

He also fought a Peter who was 100% better and smarter than in the first fight.

I think from all the salads and beans he has been fed, Toney simply had gas.. he was congested and coudn't let it out...

            That's explains it, doesn't it?

i think its a matter of him just fighting in a weight class where his opponents are just too big for him! also i think he would have been 10000% better if he cut weight properly ( not eating only lettuce 3 weeks prior to the weight-in`s and taking night-quil to sleep, he couldnt sleep because he was so hungry)

As a big Toney fan myself, I say give it a rest. I knew going in he was going to lose to Peter regardless, although I hoped maybe I was wrong. Its not the weight training, its not his weight. He was going to lose that fight whether he was 220 or 240.

I give him props because I think he actually trained hard for this fight. You cant expect miracles just four months after his fight. You figure he gives himself about a month of rest. He probably ballooned to about 250-260. People like Trimble were expecting him to be 220 pounds of muscle with the speed of a 28 year old Toney.

Peter was the better man. Its over now.

I think Burger King had more than a little bit of a contribution. I'm sure Mackie Shilstone or a Teddy Atlas wouldn't recommend the Whopper as part of a diet for training.
