Impressed with Peter last night... to an extent

Listen, the guy's yet to beat a legitimate heavyweight (sorry, I love James Toney as much as the next guy, but he's getting old really fast these days and is NOT a real heavyweight) but I've got to give him credit for his advances in the sport.

The guy himself knows that he's not the most technically adept heavy out there, but his humility on this, combined with his advancements every time he fights are to his credit.

Sure, Toney looked slower and easier to hit than I've ever seen him last night, but Peter showed a willingness to learn and improve his arsenal - as well as adapt to the opponent - that deserves commending.

I had the first fight ISTR 116-111 Toney... this was 118-109 Peter on my card. If nothing else, I loved the showboating he did in the tenth and the dancing at the end was classic.

I'm still not entirely convinced he hits as hard as touted, but I'm getting there. But can you imagine how much of a force this guy would be if he could really box? He was a lot more precise last night, and several steps up from the incredibly crude slugger he was only a few fights back. Nice guy, too.

...He keeps improving and is well on his way to being the future of the division. I think the sky is the limit if he keeps improving his skills and his stamina.

I forgot to mention that... his stamina isn't that great at all.

Well you heard him saying in the interview that he was running... running a lot.. running every day.. something he never did in the passed (not sure is the SHO interviews are televised in UK)

and I did see a much larger punch output by him... he did punch in 5-8 punch combos when Toney was on the ropes.. and he did it throughout the fight..

He is getting definitely better.. Not that I was predicting him to win.. I predicted Toney to lose. There is a slight difference there.

I did not expect for Peter to become significantly better... I was betting on same unskilled slugger fighting a Toney who would become significantly worst. (I was right half way)

After his showing yesterday, I would rate him at #2...

          Peter cannot be hurt!
Question is.. with his tremendous improvement, can Wlad go another 12 rounds keeping him at bay?

I want to see Valuev / Peter before it gets to it.

Even the Peter cannot be hurt bit is still unproven... sure, he's got a great set of chops, but wlad never sat down on his shots (until that last round) and if Toney could punch his weight he'd KO all his opponents in the first thirty seconds.

.......I'm not sure Wlad can keep him at Bay for 12 rounds. However, I think Wlad can hurt him and would go for it more offensively and try and take Peter out. I want it to be a mega fight for all the belts.

His confidence seems to have come on again since their first fight... having said that, Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock don't offer the same danger as Peter does.

Peter-Wlad II should be the final title eliminater match for all the belts. That is the best fight in the division BY FAR.

Wlad fought a measured fight last time, if he fights the same way as last time he will beat Peter again but if he goes there to hurt him he will get hurt himself, Wlad has to jab and keep him at bay, if he goes to the offensive its not going to work against Sam because he will suddenly get caught from with a shot.

We should see Wlad vs Peter II in a Unification...Peter has certainly improved, no question Wlad is #1 and Peter needs him.

Almost everyone knew Brock and Byrd were going to get stopped before the 6th, but when it comes to guys like Briggs and Peter its not clever to fight them Offensively because they do have Power/ are evenly matched in size, and anyone can do anything with one punch in the HW Division.
