and it only makes sense to unify the titles against Cotto. I like Cotto, hate to see him get KTFO, but it has to be done.

    after Cotto, bring on DLH.
You know that he might loose the title if he doesn't fight Williams...

It will be a less attractive fight for Cotto's camp if he can't unify fighting Margarito...What happens if Margarito looses his belt and then Cotto doesn't fight him? I could see Cotto fighting the winner of Collazo-Mosley instead or Cintron...

I was one of those pushing for the Margarito/PBF fight when Margarito issued the challenge not because I believe he can defeat PBF but because I want to see him prove what comes out of his mouth, now this? Dammit what a let down this guy is.

Anyway, a Cotto fight is bigger in all aspects so it's not really that bad, but no matter what he can't escape from a William fight with or without a belt in the future.

When Floyd did this and wouldn't fight Magarito because he was looking toward a bigger fight all the Floyd fans justified it. Now that Margarito is doing this looking toward a bigger more marketable fight, not to mention tougher challenge against a more significant opponent in Cotto, everyone wants to call him a *****. I could see if he were doing this fighting a lesser opponent, but thats not the case Cotto is a much tougher fight than Williams, Williams is still an unproven prospect, not to say that he will not be very good but at this point is very over hyped for not accomplishing much. Cotto is a much tougher and better fighter at this point in there careers. it's just funny to me that when Floyd did the exact same thing he was justified for it.

You just said it yourself, a fighter that isn't even that good. How can it be considered ducking him, when he is looking ahead to challenge a much more difficult in challenge in Cotto. That is a ridiculous comment. How can taking a step up in competition be seen as ducking when Williams is the lesser opponent. That doesn't make a damn bit of sense. The only ones that consider this a duck are all the Floyd fans. Big surprise. If he was fighting lesser opposition that would be understandable but he is looking to take a tougher challenge. You make absolutely no sense at all.

Margarito has always been a nonfactor because he hasn't been given the shot at a big fight....and he's still dancing to the same tune.

Williams is not a name, I don't care how much you people try and preach it. He's unknown to the general public and outside of you few nuthuggers on boxing forums (well many of them)...nobody knows who he is. Margarito isn't exactly a shining star but he's fought on H.B.O. and FNF multiple times.

I understand people are bitching about Margarito "ducking" Paul Williams but that would defeat the purpose of him even calling out big names to begin with. Sometimes I read you folks' comments and think you're just buying into a huge hype circus centered around 1 person trying to market himself. It's like observing people watching Professional Wrestling, and when a protagonist makes a statement everyone either critiques or cheers or some gay ****.

OF ****ING COURSE MARGARITO IS GOING TO SAY EVERYONE IS DUCKING HIM. Nobody has yet to give him a big fight and there's a reason behind that. I don't know if it has anything to do with people being "scared" of him, or it's simply his unfortunate fate......all I do know is.....cut the bull****.

He's a nonfactor in boxing, he rarely makes headlines outside of people bringing skeletons out of the closet, and I don't exactly see where he's so highly regarded by critics when compiling a P4P list or other.

Like every ****ing fighter, he tries to market himself. Obviously it works because if you're going to *****, whine and make threads about how he's a bum and you'd like to see him get knocked out.....you'll more than likely view his fights so that you can whine and ***** through thread media when he "Doesn't move his head" and "Gets hit" in a fight.

              Grow the **** up children.
              Excellent post

The difference is that Floyd took the biggest fight available. He earned the same amount of money and won his 4th WBC belt in his 4th division from the lineal champ at 147. Margarito is going to either take a lesser fight or sit out. I would have no problem with Margarito fighting Cotto instead of Williams, but to flat out avoid Williams and not fight is ridiculous. Obviously he has time to fight Williams because Cotto is fighting before their fight. You're comparing apples and orange my friend. Floyd went for a more important fight, Margie is going for the less important fight.

Is the Cotto-Margarito fight signed already? No. If Margarito looses his title for not fighting Williams and then Cotto ends up fighting someone else, Margarito will be left out of the picture...Comprende? Plus he would make the Cotto fight a much bigger fight if he fights and beats Williams...

                      Paul Williams is his mandatory.
You cant call yourself the baddest man on the planet and then duck your mandatory. Williams would be a step up in competition, because Tony has been fighting C class opposition his entire career. And Tony is going to be inactive for 6 months just to take this fight, while Cotto will be facing an opponent in the period between now and the Tony fight.
Dont try and compare the Floyd situation to this, becuse they are entirely different, and anyone who had half a brain, or didnt jump to defend a fighter just because they are of the same culture would know that.
