The only ones that consider this a duck are all the Floyd fans. Big surprise. If he was fighting lesser opposition that would be understandable but he is looking to take a tougher challenge. You make absolutely no sense at all.
Tony whined for months about not getting his shot. Now, in turn, hes denying his MANDATORY, who poses a legitimate threat a "shot." Its a little ironic.

Obviously he has time to fight Williams because Cotto is fighting before their fight. You're comparing apples and orange my friend. Floyd went for a more important fight, Margie is going for the less important fight.
That is untrue because Floyd din't fight Baldomir until the second time he turned Margarito down. The first time he said he was waiting around on Oscar, and Oscar came out and said he wouldn't fight again until this year. How is he going for the less important fight when it is against a tougher opponenet in a bigger fight as I said Cotto is a much tougher fight than Williams at this point in there careers and is more proven. I'm not saying that Williams won't be very good but to this point hasn't really done much to deserve all this hype.

Plus he would make the Cotto fight a much bigger fight if he fights and beats Williams...
Wa the fight with De La Hoya signed the first time Floyd turned Margarito down? That was the reason floyd didn't want the fight the first time because he said he was waiting on Oscar. It'sthe same situation bottom line, you are just trying to justify Floyd which you can't because it tis the sam thing. Comprende!!!

Once again if he were trying to fight a lesser opponent than your argument would hold water but wanting to take on a tougher opponent and a higher risk fight nullifies that argument.

I just don't see how people have so much animosity towards 1 single fighter. First it stems from disapproval of their matchmaking....then a full out assault on their in ring credentials and character.

IE here's the evolution from A to B to C.

A.)Margarito could have fought better opponents, but fought Green ones.

B.)Margarito is unproven because he's only fought C level guys.

C.)Margarito is a bum. He's garbage I hate him because he only fights bums.

The less important fight thing was comparing Williams to whoever Margarito fights instead of him before Cotto. No doubt Cotto is a bigger fight than Williams, but why fight anyone but Williams before the Cotto fight?

After DLH said he wasn't fighting, Floyd's next choice was Mosley. A couple weeks after Mosley said he wouldn't fight, the Baldy fight was signed.

The bottom line is that Margarito is willing to fight someone before Cotto, just not Williams and there is no good reason for that.

Why would he take on Williams before Cotto if he is planning to fight Cotto? How many fighters take on a tough fight before the biggest fight of there career, and risk losing that fight? How many fighters don't take on an easier tune up fight to stay active prior to fighting te toughest fight of there career? It would be ****** for Margarito to fight Williams beofre the Cotto fight, and you ask why fight a lesser opponent in a tune up, the answer is like I said to saty active and not get rusty. The question should be why would he fight Williams beofre fighting Cotto and risk the type of fight that he has been waiting for, for so long that will get him the exposure he needs to set up bigger fights down the line, because fighting and beating Williams right now does nothing for him if he is gonna get the Cotto fight anyway. All it does is put him in a high risk low reward fight. Why would he even risk it? He would be ****** to. If this were Floyd people would make excuses and justify this in every way possible and it would be called a smart business decision. Thats the bottom line if people want to admit it or not. It's a double standard.

You're right its a double standard. When Floyd did it you people were screaming at the top of your lungs about him ducking Margarito and now that the tables are turned you're taking the same defense Floyd's fans did. The only difference is that Floyd was going to fight one or the other and he chose the Lineal champ. Margarito has the opportunity to fight both and is flat out ducking one of them. You talk about him taking a tune up before Cotto. uhhhh HELLO all of his fights have been tune ups. He's never fought a top level opponent and Williams isn't one either. My two problems with this are that he should've fought Williams, not Clottey and he should be fighting Williams and nobody else before the Cotto fight. He doesn't have to choose between Cotto and Williams. He is choosing between Williams and a lesser opponent and he's taking the lesser opponent. How can you support that? You would rather him drop his belt ducking a decent opponent and fight a random nobody?

                    Man you just dont understand.
The stipulations behind the fight and the way Tony has acted towards others who wouldnt give him a "shot" makes this case totally different to the Floyd and TOny situation.

bottom line margarito knows he loses vs williams or cotto so take the fight that is worth the most while your still highly regarded cause after losing hes back at the grill at burger king, which is the cotto fight, he may suck at boxing but hes smarter than you guys think, also emmanuel augustus is seriously thinking about moving up to 147 and just decimating the division leaving no survivors
