Hey Ricardo Mayorga got beat by the two best boxers of his era. I give him credit for making big fight after big fight. Fight sum one ther than a A-list HOF and Ricardo Mayorga WINS. He could have rode out the Unifed WW Championship but he didnt, only fought top guys. Won some lost some.

I agree with the above that Mayorga is highly underrated when matched against guys in his league. Hell, I thought he beat Spinks if he gets credited with any of those knockdowns and doesn't have points deducted prematurely. If you want the honest truth, the reason that ref was deducting points from Mayorga left and right was all the boxing purists pissed off about the Forrest rematch who thought Mayorga got a gift and complained about Mayorga being a dirty fighter. Well, they got their way and Cory ****in Spinks was the new WW champion. What a joke.

You got that right. The winner will be going nowhere, so why pay $45-50 bucks to see the winner go nowhere? It's like you already know the outcome of the winner of the fight, so why pay? ****, might be worth 10 bucks as if you seeing a movie, though not nearly the price of a quality PPV. They gonna have to strengthen this PPV card up with good undercard fights.

Same thing can be said about vargas. He only lost to 3 hall of famers, but he beat winky and ike and castillejo and joval were decent fighters. Truth is we won't know how mayorga is doing mentally untill we see him fight. After the fights with tito and oscar, vargas was never the same. Samething might happen with mayorga. Only that mayorgas beatings were bigger and faster.
If they need the money that bad why don't we give them a tv show. Call it "the could have beens" staring vargas, mayorga, carr, and yori boy. They can sit there and talk about who gave the biggest ass whoppin oscar or tito
Seriously the winner of this fight will ask for another, and think he will be able to handle it. And guess what looking for a real rocky balboa fight promotors will give it to them. At the end neither of these fighters will walk away anybetter.

See, I don't buy many PPVs. I usually go to a bar and watch. People that buy this one pretty much just want to see a war, but since the outcome means nothing, you're right, it is pointless to order it since that is the point of boxing: what happens next? Whenever a guy tells you it's his last fight going in, I think it takes something away from it. But in this case it probably helps Vargas sell more PPVs since people know even if he wins, he's still a shot fighter. I love both of these guys, so I might consider getting this one out of respect for both for delivering on so many good fights or at least making the big fights happen.

I regret posting before reading this, but you are so right. The winner is going to feel like he can fight somebody better, and he's going to get his head smashed in. This fight IS a bad idea when you look at it from that perspective. If they were young and not so battle worn, then fine. But this fight could have devastating consequences.

Mayorga is pretty washed up now, he can't even take a good punch anymore, I think Vargas is washed up too but I will probably favor Vargas in this fight. Vargas by TKO!
