I haven't seen the movie yet but Ice you are talking like a prick.
It's a film.
The original inspired a lot of people to get into boxing. It brought an interest in boxing to non-boxing fans. Of course it has flaws. It's a film!
If this film can inspire half the amount of people to be interested in boxing as the first one, then it's a bloody good thing.
Oh, and if you analyse everything in life so deeply you must bore people to tears...

OF COURSE YOU WEREN'T. You are doing exactly what they wanted people to do, spreading the nonsense to hype the movie. Antonio Tarver would very likely PERMANENTLY harm Sylvester Stallone if he ever really hit him. Tarver hit Stallone with 10 ounce gloves and didn't break his jaw, slice his face open, knock teeth (of a sixty year old man) out? Didn't break his nose? Please.

Originally posted by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLY View PostYea, I mean, its only a movie BUT in a case like this they shouldn't overlook things like that... and having Ali be an actual fighter when Appolo Creed was their main character.... in their world where did Ali fit in? And Foreman? I don't see how it is possible. It's like in "ALI" with Will Smith and they talked about how much attention was paid to every little detail YET at the Liston weigh-in, in the movie. Will Smith was NOT wearing a "Bear Huntin'" Jacket. To people that know better...things like that REALLY stand out.
Also, I hope that Will Smith will do a sequel to "Ali" on Ali's life post "rumble." He did such a great job at capturing Muhammad Ali's personality and his boxing style.

For those of you arguing "It's just a movie...let it go"...well...it depends on how passionate you are about movies. I mean, some people see a disputed boxing fight, and while those of us on this forum debate the outcome, they sit at home, scratching their heads and laughing at us all, "It's just a boxing match...let it go." They see the debate about Margarito-Mayweather, and all the other arguments, and say 'They're just boxers...come on..drop it." The point is, you take things you are passionate about seriously. Some see movies as popcorn flicks to entertain...others see movies as art. Couple that with the fact that this guy must be passionate about boxing, too, and you can't belittle his arguments and tell him he is taking it too seriously. I mean, who are we to say what the movie might have meant to him...and how serious he is about it...

I'm sure you understand my point. It's a film. The majority of people who watch it won't give a **** about your analysis because it's irrelevant.
YES...it's a MESSAGE board. I hope it hasn't affected you just because I disagree with your post?

I thought it was fantastic.
I'm a tough critic too, because I really only like Rocky I and a little bit of III.
But the way they focus on Rocky, and how life changes as we get older. And the things that are important to us...
I thought it should have ended right at the end of the fight...because that's how all of them ended really...the rocky music slowly ending in the back and then the freezeframe...
I also thought the commercials for the movie overemphasized certain things. During the fight his son didn't feel real to me...(And I actually like that guy, he's on Heros on NBC, I think he's a really good actor) Not like Adrian at the end of Rocky I, or when Mick was in his corner.
Rocky got a little long winded sometimes too, but he was funny.
My favorite line. "What's wrong with standing toe to toe and Saying I AM"
That's got to be the best sum up of what it means to step in the ring with another man, another warrior. Standing right in front of another person and saying I AM.
The music was great, the flash backs almost perfectly timed. I'm really glad Stalone wrote and directed it, he wrote and directed Rocky I and it felt so true to Philidelphia and Life, eventually when other people started writing it, and other directors, I thought they took away from the realism of Rocky and his life. (Yes I know the boxing is not in any way real)
