Once again, Roy Jones Jr. has chosen to fight against an opponent that nobody has heard of in Derrick Harman.

Jones has complained at the lack of quality opponents available and said recently, "I will fight anyone and the best fighters this year."

However, one fighter that he refuses to meet is Welshman Joe Calzaghe, the undefeated WBO World Super-Middleweight champion.

Unlike Jones, Calzaghe wants to prove that he is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the World, "I see that Jones is fighting another unheard of opponent. The difference between me and him is that I want to fight the best out there and not just 'opponents'. Whereas Jones is content facing mediocre class opponents, I have fought the best and most dangerous fighters out there including Eubank, Sheika and Woodhall, all live fighters. I am offering Jones the opportunity to prove himself and fight me. He's losing respect in his own country, but I am offering Jones the opportunity to get some of that back by facing me. It's up to him."

Promoter Frank Warren said, "It's a great shame that Jones has not taken up Calzaghe's challenge. It's a fight that the World would want to see, the best against the best. Now that Jones has signed with HBO maybe he can ask for a one fight get out clause to make this fantastic fight."

Its a real shame that Roy wouldnt put his titles on the line in Joe's hometown. He definitly ducked Joe.

I almost find it a bit odd that Jones Jr. even comes up in the conversation..

He's the guy that went bust after coming off steriods right?..

Calzaghe is just begging for visibility to even think about Roy Jones.

Roy Jones should be doing kid's birthdays right about now..

Thanks for reminding me he was once a fighter, I haven't read any history books lately..

As far as the earlier argument about no one knowing about Hopkins in the states...true. In the grand scheme of things boxing is not that popular here and most people would not know about Bernard Hopkins. That said- if you had to pick if people would know the name Bernard Hopkins or Joe Calzaghe I would 100% say Bernard Hopkins. No one who is not a boxing fan- not a single soul- has ever heard the name Joe Calzaghe. He had one fight on HBO recently for his coming out where he fought Sakio Bika...who no one here knows. Non boxing fans might have heard Hopkin's name floating out there...but not Calzaghe's. Not yet.

And I doubt the Manfredo fight would change that. The only people who know who he is are Contender fans- a television show made for boxing fans. Boxing fans already know who both Calzaghe and Hopkins are. Mainstream is harder to woo.

You couldnt be more correct Brook!

I know there are probably a few better fights out there but if I could pick one its Hopkins vs. Calzaghe.

I was telling my wife a couple of weeks ago that my obsession with this fight was such that I would loan her to Shaq for an hour in a hotel room to tear her apart.

My wife is actually under the assumption that if the fight does get made she gets to actually meet up with Shaq...looks like Im just gonna have to find some monster black guy and throw a jersey on his ass, my wife wont be able to tell as long as hes long!

Calzaghe vs. Hopkins...exactly what this little fight fan wants!

                    Oh O.K.

Calzaghe is going to turn his opponents like a Flamenco Dancer because he breathes fire like a dragon right? That's ****ing corny.

Your alt account is corny, and it's really not impressive.

Well, when you put it all together like that it kind of works.. I like that.

Americanspirit are the kind of cigarettes I smoke. I get high so much that's the only thing I can remember. If we fought I'd need 20 second rounds.

                      "Corny" is corny, X.
