Warren is to blame for wrecking boxing in this country by switching over to Sky. When Calzaghe won the title, it was on PPV at about 2 in the morning (because when Eubank replaced Collins, they made Eubank's fight the main event - much to Naz's annoyance), and nobody knew that Eubank was fighting because he took the fight at 10 days notice - if that was on prime time ITV, Calzaghe flooring Eubank like he did and winning spectacularly (against EUBANK, an A-list celeb), he'd of been a superstar there and then. The next morning, in the papers it was all about how good Eubank was as a loser - Calzaghe was nothing more than 'the young opponent'.
Calzaghe sells-out in Cardiff with tickets much lower-priced than London prices, but he's never come close to selling out any venue in England. Manfredo is a much bigger name, The Contender was watched by millions on ITV1 - Calzaghe's fights were watched by a couple of hundred thousand on Sky.
Most English fans will be rooting for Manfredo, Calzaghe is simply not liked by English boxing fans (not just because of his promoter, but because he's Welsh), he's been boo'd out the building in England a number of times - whereas Manfredo got a great reception when he was introduced to the crowd at the Audley-Williams/Amir Khan card this month.
