Emanuel Augustus is a champ

did you just look up his record on boxrec? you mean you don't know about how much he has gotten screwed?yeah this guy is way overrated.... he has like 27 defeats and everyone likes him because he's "entertainin" and a very "good fighter" if he was good he wouldn't have 27 defeats would he?
augustus is a damn fine boxer. everyone from teddy atlas to al bernstein know about emanuel and the bull**** he's been through. i believe it was one of them who said augustus should have no more than 4 or 5 losses on his record. and having tracked down and watched many of his fights, including an amazing number of bull**** losses to hometown fighters, i agree.
you should really try to watch some of his fights before you dismiss him. from the way you posted, i seriously doubt that you have seen more than 3 of his fights.Comment

That Augustus-Burton fight was one of the most ridicilous decisions and an example of the **** he has had to deal with, Teddy atlas was classic at that fight goin nuts after the decision then ripping the michigan offical for calling it a majority decision when it was a split decisionComment

There's all this sympathy and "get Augustus a big fight" stuff, but I'd feel sorry for him and be more for this if Emanuel himself seemed to put more dedication to the sport.
The guy has ability but has lost to plenty of B and C fighters, quit (or took a dive) in a fight before, and tested positive for weed.Comment

I expect more from you.
ANY true boxing fan knows that there is much more to Augustus than his record. He's been robbed more times than a Korean market in South Compton. Augustus has the skills to pay the bills.
There are so many Augustus fights that he should've won but were instead awarded to the other guy. Anyone remember the first Courtney Burton fight? Augustus got a point taken away from him for spinning around, for Christ's sake! What about the Micky Ward fight a few years back? That was the Ring Mag fight of the year and it was given to Ward as a home-town decision.
Listen, Augustus is probably the second best fighter at 140 right now, right after Ricky Hatton. I even think Ricky would have a serious chance at losing a fairly-judged match against Augustus, especially in the U.S.
Augustus is getting old, tho, so he needs to get some good fights in soon.Comment

Augustus has been robbed 14 or 15 times, which still makes him a 13 or 14 loss fighter.did you just look up his record on boxrec? you mean you don't know about how much he has gotten screwed?

Lets be serious.
Any legit champ at 140 would have had Jones out of there in 2 rounds max.
I dont think he could touch any of the champs today.Comment

There's that "looks are deceiving" saying and it also applies to some boxing records. Augustus is very skilled, entertaining, and has been in may tough and good fights. Go ask Mayweather about this guy's will and awkwardness. Augustus is not elite, but certainly not a bum. There's a reason why he keeps getting fights and recognition even with that bad record.Comment

This is something I find difficult to understand, and otherwise rational boxing fan thinking AUgustus has a shot against Hatton, it just doesn't make sense.
Augustus wouldn't have to worry about the quality of the judges in any undeserved fight with Hatton. Hatton would give him a brutally one sided beatdown. Witter and M'Baye would beat Augustus as well. They're both fast and quite powerful.
The sad thing is, Augustus has talent, but wasted it years ago. Given some proper guidance he could have done well. Now he is a journeyman, a dangerous enough journeyman for sure, but not someone who deserves a title shot.Comment
