    Emanuel Augustus is a champ

Taylor-Ouma undercard. From *********.com: Super lightweight Emanuel Augustus (35-28-6, 19 KOs) pitched a ten round shutout against Russell Stoner Jones (19-16, 14 KOs). Augustus won by scores of 100-89, 100-89, 100-90 to claim the WBC Continental Americas super lightweight championship. After the fight, Augustus stated, "I'd like to fight the best fighters out there," Augustus said. "I'm an HBO fighter and a very entertaining fighter. I've had some tough breaks along the way but now things are starting to come my way."

Yeah, not like its a huge deal, and he was fighting a can. But really, if you are Augustus any win, any kind of title, at this point in his career is a good thing. Those of us with a soft spot for the eccentric journeyman can at least be glad he didnt **** this one up (or get ****ed).

I still thinks this guy gets too much press. 28 losses? While a lot of prospect get no press at all. A big thing that's wrong with the sport.

Yeah, he gets press because he's been in entertaining fights and been in with a lot of good guys. I dont see how thats unfair.

Because boxing hangs on to all of these old guys and gives the new guys barely any press. The main reason the sport has not grown any bigger in the last couple of years. Barely any new stars were made in the last 5-years or even longer.

Mayweather, Pacquiao, Taylor, Hatton and Cotto.

Well, considering how many Cintron's and Lacy's have made boxing writers shoot themselves in foot, it is the prospects to blame.

Anyway, it remains, if Augustus hadnt been in so many potential fight of the year matches in his career, no one would give a flip about him, he wouldnt have a loyal cult, and writers wouldnt write the occassional blurb about his latest match.

yeah this guy is way overrated.... he has like 27 defeats and everyone likes him because he's "entertainin" and a very "good fighter" if he was good he wouldn't have 27 defeats would he?
