Simply put, their governments wouldn't let them.

I think it would simply be an even field and boxing would be much more advanced due to added competition.

If Cubans, Americans and Soviets fought at the same time we would simply have more different champions and not just Americans.

cant really say that the americans would be taken over though, cause american fighters would just be forced to step up there game if these soviet union fighters where that good

          And vice versa.

It would be whose working harder thatd win.

It's not like either has some superior boxing gene.

It would simply even out the field.

C'mon, are you ready to right off American boxers just yet? There are many good American fighters in every division; the heavyweight one is just lacking at the moment.

I don't think people are saying Americans would be over-taken, just that there "might have been" a little more competition.

The factors though, good amatuers doesn't equal good pros, it is a different fight...American has always been great because of a vast pool of talent, lots of "ethnic" diversity, good teachers, lots of gyms, etc. Things changed over time, and "America" declined, especially now.

I don't write them off. It's just that by far Cuba and Russia produced more quality amateurs than America I'm pretty sure. Just by sheer numbers and depth of talent they would dominate.

The few Americans that would rise to the top in this hypothetical world would be DAMN good ones though.

I think things are pretty equal, and I don't want to start something, but
the "African American", not all, but they certainly have showed that they might be slightly ahead in some ways.

Well, Soviets had the same qualities.
Soviet Union was huge and had a huge gene pool
Also, had some great trainers and boxing was a religion--and I mean it literally.
So, as SFDmalex said, I think it would have evened out.Not one side would be really superior to other.

Are we talking about the superiority of the red tissue muscles over white tissue muscles in boxing?
