I realize that the thread went a little off the original question but check out this site for all the amateur champs since 1904.
By the way, the Soviet block approved of their boxers to compete in 1950, I believe. All the fighters from "URS" are the Soviet fighters up until the 90's, when all the URS fighters became RUS, UZB, UKR, etc.
What is clear from those results, is that amateurs elite fighters were a lot more diverse, while Cubans kicked pretty much everybody's ass. So, to answer the original question, the professional ranks would be a lot different, US fighters would not be the only force out there for so many years and it would not be such a shock to see a whole bunch of Easter European fighters to become such a force overnight. I'll tell you what though, when Castro's regime ends and Cubans are able to compete on the professional level, we're all in deep ****.
