    The truth about Cotto-Margarito...

Is that Cotto is too skilled a fighter for the crude Margarito. Honestly, does Margarito not have the perfect frame for a Cotto masterpiece? Tall, long torsoed and a catcher, Cotto would tear him apart. I like Cotto at his new weight, he has the strength now to be the fluid power puncher he can be. If I'm Bob Arum, I keep Margarito as far away from Cotto as possible.

If they go at it and Margarito catches them rib shots and is dismantled in 7 like I think, there is no money in any Margarito bout again.

You know Asian, I gotta say you're one of the very few guys that post on this forum that actually makes sense and knows what he's talking about... I agree, I think Margarito has nothing for Cotto. Margarito has a tremendous punch( even though he didn't show it last night), and if he lands he can hurt you.. But he has no hand speed and no lateral movement whatsoever. He has a similar style to Pinto in that his punches are thrown wide and looping. Tailor made for Miguel... You saw what he did to Pinto... Enough said

To tell you the truth. If Cintron would have stepped in the ring on December 2nd with Tony i think Cintron would have won. Cintron has improved a lil also.

Cotto vs Tony would be good. Even though i still think Tony can pull the upset, but Tony has a habit of throwing wide shots. Cotto would counter him alot. Cotto is very strong. Upstairs and downstairs. Clottey has fast hands.. faster than Cottos IMO. I would go with Cotto by late KO.. probaly the 8th. Tony has a habit of staying still not moving his head making it easy for Cotto to hit. If anyone is going to get outboxed it's Tony.

as long as cotto stays out of those wide, looping, innaccurate, pray and punch haymakers, hell be fine. Cotto is just too skilled for that dumb ****. Cotto beating quintana like he did gathered a whole lot of respect for me personally. i was impressed. and i lost money, haha.

Margarito's 'pray and punch' haymakers are anything but praying and hoping. They have worked for him for many years and it's a good strategy if you have the stamina to do it. Margarito is not Quintanna. There is a reason Carlos fights the way he fights and Tony fights the way he fights. Tony has had success with it.

Margarito's size, chin, workrate, and stamina spell problems for Cotto. Anyone who talks of Tony as if he is of little threat to Cotto clearly is missing the big picture.

RE: blackjesus, Sounds like you also lost money on Margarito. Margarito does throw looping punch, most of them he throws them to step up another punch. Just let Arum put Cotto in with Margarito, i dare him too. Cotto would find himself on his back.

Thanks alot, I'm just stating the obvious. I admit that I was a former detractor of Cotto, but after seeing how brilliant his game is coming together at 147, I just have to say, if you can't beat them, join them.

Margarito has power yeah, but, but nothing.

Cotto has shown in the past he can be hurt, and because of his style of fight, can be tagged with the uppercut, which is very possible from a tall fighter like Margarito.

but that said, with Cotto's brutal body punching, Margarito's frame looking like he should be fighting at a higher weight, even with his stamina looking great, I really think Cotto could wear down Margarito, but we will see.

I also wonder if Margarito might in fact be able to hurt Cotto to the body

I dunno about Cintron and Margarito, Cintron's inexperience makes him get tight when he sees a windmill throwing them big punches at him like that. He doesn't react composed like a guy with 1000000 amateur bouts like Cotto has. Totally different fighters and experience.
