First of all, again, recruit anyone you want and their momma. I guarantee they don't uncover a contract for the May of 1909 fight. If there was a contract for May of 1909, the promoter wouldn't have tried to show proof of the May 1909 fight by showing a document that only referenced the proposed February fight that was put off. It's obvious they had nothing referencing the May fight. People sign contracts for legal compulsion. Why do you think there is no court case here?

But the fact that you would try so hard to pin Jack Johnson to a contract worth as little as $2000 for the Heavyweight Championship of the World shows either the great degree to which you are consumed with petty hatred toward Jack Johnson or how little you understand about why these men were beating the tar out of each other, and what they came from. There's a reason they all wanted the Heavyweight Championship, and it had nothing to do with holding up their pants.

Being that you'd obviously be a shlt boxing manager, I think we can disregard your opinions about the direction of a boxer's career. Unless, of course, you can explain to me why former hobo Jack Johnson should have put up the championship for as little as $2000 when other men were getting $30,000 for doing the same.

If you can't understand the concept of prize fighting, especially for a formerly homeless man who just snatched the Heavyweight Championship of the World, I don't think you are qualified to be posting in the boxing history section.
What a joke you are. I did invite the author of the Langford book to appear here. He's a buy man, but just might. I see you quote Langford a lot. Well, I just quoted hm in a separate thread using his own words that he wasn't even 150 pounds for Johnson and floored him. Do check it out, you might learn something.

You're getting beat up in enough threads. You didn't need to do that to yourself

          - -Dempsey never turned down Jeannette, it was Doc who objected being yanked around at the last minute in a ww1 charity. Dempsey never said a word. Weensie whoppers always good for a laugh.

It was a dirty trick by New York interests and Kearns did his job protecting Dempsey.

New York was trying leap frog Jeannette to a title shot by catching Dempsey unprepared.

Dempsey showed up that night expecting to spar not fight. It was just one more example of ten thousand diffetent dirty tricks that has filled the 140 year history of prize fighting. This one didn't work because Kearns was too smart to take the bait.

Queenie is a liar. Dempsey said himself at the event, "I'll fight any white man they put on, but I never agreed to fight a colored boy."

Just days before the contest, said he would fight ANY MAN THE PROMOTER CHOSE.

Then at the event, stated he would fight any TWO white men in the place, but not one Joe Jeannette. Hmmmmmm.

I don't know that this had anything to do with New York at all. If anything, it seems that the "trick" was staged by Joe Jeannette and his team. They wanted a Dempsey scrap at the benefit. Dempsey wasn't going near it. Question is, if he had white skin, would Dempsey have fought. According to Dempsey, the answer was yes. In fact, he would have fought two White Jeannettes.
