    - -He didn't skeeter around near so much and willing to set down on his punches.

    He was feeling more manly.

Holmes was a great fighter and sits in an all time top 5 but hes more 5 than 1. The best of his era but his best win is probably cooney. Norton was certainly towards the end of his career and he gave holmes hell. Hes my number 4 heavy of all time. Losing to spinks counts against him a little. His comeback fights definitely show how great he was.

I like both guys but maybe favor Spinks slightly. I have a hard time believing that Spinks would beat a prime Larry Holmes.

EXACTLY. I know Ali was older and towards the end of his career but that loss gets overlooked all the time

Norton was still very good and should've gotten the title from Ali in the 3rd fight

It gets overlooked for great reason, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's just a few years afterwards and was shot to pieces. Do you view Louis's loss to Marciano valid as well? Lol

That's what happens when abilities deteriorate, a fighter has to adapt the best way he can. You think he wanted to take those big shots on the ropes vs Frazier? Lol and "skeeter around"? Ali had some of the most beautiful, most effective foot movement I've ever seen pre exile. Literally poetry in motion.

                    - -Joe a Ring ranked fighter never shot like Ali.
