Bean is one of the most famous boxers of all time.

And he was clearly a devastating puncher.

      toughman record
      56–5 (36KO)

      boxing record
      77-10-4 (58 KO)

      kickboxing record
      3-4 (2KO)

      mma record
      17-10 (8KO) (9submission)

Some of those submissions are from punches

      Is that you Lennox?

But Michael Bentt did deserve a title shot? with a far worse record than Bean.

What did Lomo do to deserve a title fight so early?

Why did a bum like Ricardo Torres get ranked for Cotto?

      Leon Spinks?

Tyson fought Mccneely. Bean massacred Mcneely in 1 round.

We both know you just have some sort of bias against Bean
You seem genuinely salty that Bean is more well known then Louis.
No, no bias, I liked Butterbean, he was quite a guy. I kinda like you as well. You're a funny poster, notwithstanding your compulsive need to insult everybody at any time. However, you seem to follow a peculiar logic of your own, which I find interesting.

My feeling is, you could be more respected here - if you ever give a damn about being respected, I mean - if you explained your views without being so aggressive. I, for one, am not hurt by that, but other people here discredit you for that, which is a pity given that you usually bring up real facts, as debatable as they are... but what isn't debatable?

Why did they avoid him??? Are you kidding me?? I mean, look at him! He's the Bean!!! A one man wrecking machine! Only a 52 year old Larry Holmes could come out of retirement and stop his reign of terror!

If 50+ year old Larry Holmes hadn't been around to save the day, I fear that Lewis and Tyson and Holyfield would be in orbit to this day having been launched into said orbit by the rocket launching power of Butterbean.

Obviously Joe Louis saw the writing on the wall and decided to get the hell out of here!

One can argue about Butterbean's evident catch on the general public, his punching power, etc. But the fact is that NO ONE ever took him seriously as a top-level boxer. That's just cold reality. Damn, man, not only did he lose to an ancient Holmes, he was knocked out by 1-6-1 Mitchell fùcking Rose while he was on the verge of B-level stardom.
Plus, all 3 men fought guys who were at bare minimum in Beans league when it came to punching power.

If you put Frank Bruno up against the cans that Bean beat, especially with Bruno's physique, Bruno would look like a god come down from Mount Olympus.

                    That fight happened in 2002.

If Danny Williams and Kevin Mcbride can beat Tyson
                    Bean can kill him.

I think their are to many boxing hipsters in this section as opposed to historians. Quick to make effeminate sarcastic comments instead of debating an issue.

No one has even come close to giving a credible reason as to why Bean never got a shot at a big fight. When far worse fighters I have listed did.
