Usually because he doesn't wanna risk them getting injured leaving them unable to fulfill the rest of the fights on their contract, according to them. According to everyone else, it's another way to keep them from making more money, like the owners of the promotion have done the past few years by not allowing them to be paid by outside sponsors, but only by their own sponsors, like Reebok, causing some to leave for Bellator.
