ROIDS became a science in the 90’s. The outlandish bodybuilder physiques are a testament to What was going on behind the scenes. The 80’s were not immune either.

look, PEDs help with physique, but the chief purpose of PEDs i improved recovery... which isn't synonymous with improved appearance.

Lennox Lewis was far more complete than Sugar Ray Robinson. Lewis had one punch KO Power and could do finesse boxing, and could brawl

he was more techncially sound, but his power (relatively speaking) was FAR inferior. He had none of Ray's mobility.

Prime Evander would out-box and out-brawl almost any fighter who used the same dosages as him. Before the age of 40, the only man he didn't defeat officially was Lennox Lewis though most believe Evander won the rematch(and lost the first).

It was an even playing field, my young and innocent friend. Name me one fighter he faced who wasn't using. I'm in for a laugh. Go ahead. You've got the floor.

Well, he beat Bowe because Bowe was in horrific condition. That was a horrible performance by Bowe. And while Holyfield did out-box him, he basically did the Pogo. Remember that dance "style" when kids would just start bouncing up and down in place to be obnoxious and get kicked out of clubs. It was kinda funny, but really weird.... even when Vander did it. His defensive boxing ability is exaggerated, really. And against the Jaba the Hut impersonators he fought, pretty much anyone who could move a little would be praised for defensive wizardry.



And, I dunno about winning the rematch, but that fight could have been a draw. I recall scoring it for Lewis every time I viewed it (a while ago), but always having it close.

It was definitely a moral victory for Holyfield, due to his age and the size-disparity he overcame.

I think Lewis really thought he was going to leave with Holyfield's head. But he had his most defining battle.

Tell me who did it better and his only negative was less professional fights but we can blame a lot in that with him suffering a detached retina and if he didn’t lose 3 years out of his prime he would have gone on to beat Aaron Pryor , Donald curry , Mike McCallum etc

Louis was the far greater more technically sound fighter. His combination punching was second to none. When it comes to heavyweight champions few could parry, block, slip and counter punch like Louis. Joe could effortless go from head to body with blows that could break opponents in half. Look at the left hook to the body Louis lands on B Baer (fight 1) to bring his chin from behind his shoulder. Such a small opening but the follow up right cross on the button was a lethal blow.

Only criticism against Leonard is with the Hagler fight because he admittedly waited out Hagler until Marvin was past prime enough for that fight to be less of a risk. Something Mayweather would later become known for, whether that was his fault or not.

leonard never had a fight for 3 years and only had 1 fight in 5 years and hagler was only 32 and Leonard was 30.....we can all nick pick on most fighters careers but the bottom line is everybody expected leonard to lose really bad and get knocked out as hagler was a 3-1 on favourite to beat him.
He also psyched out hagler who tried to box with him instead of just coming out trying to take his head off and that had more to do with with tactics not prime.
Leonard never waited for hagler to get old...leonard was never afraid of a risk because he always took on the best it was more that he missed boxing and knew he had to fight hagler or that fight would never happen.
You honestly think leonard sat there waiting for hagler to get old....no it was his ego and desire to beat hagler that made him come back against hagler when the whole world was against him returning.
As what Duran said to leonard when he lost a decision to hagler he lent over the ropes and said to him you can beat him sugar.
