Maybe Jirov?

Had he not had the brain clot, I wonder if he would have ever stepped up and faced someone legitimately dangerous to cash out. I guess we'll never know...
Oh whoops, Joe Mesi, one s not two. Who knows, but he probably wouldn't have stayed unbeaten then. I remember him being on HBO at least once.

Didn't see his fight against Tony The Punching Postman Thornton but read about it in the newspaper after the fact. What's funny is I had no recollection of his fight with Toney; Sounds like it was it was highway robbery. Also didn't know Dave retired in disgust after that fight. Crazy.
The late Tony Thornton , was a tough guy and a big draw in Atlantic City back in the day.
Solid fighter and a good guy.
Tiberi was from a family of fighters but Dave was a legit guy that was from Delaware but was a Philly trained fighter.
Trained with the Executioner and many greats.
You tube the fight. It was Wide World Of Sports fight on ABC.
Alex Wallou and Hall of fame football player Dan Deirdorf have the call. This was the worst decision ever, I honestly think Toney won 2 rounds. Maybe

I was always a fan of Peter Manfredo and Gary Baletto. When I was younger I trained at Manfredo's father's gym for a bit. He was a kid and he would be there doing his homework and than doing his own own training. Gary was a friend of my cousin and had a bar down the street from my cousins bar. Very nice guy. Always a gentleman, and boy could that kid punch!

The fighting postman was a staple on Tuesday night fights. Always liked him.

Those are two ESPN regulars from New England! I enjoyed watching both, good regional fighters who always brought forth their best effort. Regional rivalries are some of the best boxing can offer. Manfredo versus Spina and Rosenblatt versus Pazienza are two from that area.

I hated Spina and was so happy to watch Manfredo (who always came off as a decent fellow) completely outclass him. I pulled for Rosenblatt more because I disliked Pazienza. I knew of too many people who met him and told me he was an unpleasant guy.

Charles Brewer was always game for a fight, managed to win a belt along the way.

Scott Pemberton was another one I remember from the Tuesday/Friday Night Fight roster. Scrappy and rangy, great fights with Shieka.

I saw Pemberton fight live many times. He was always great to watch. Never in a boring fight.

Last I heard I think he was training his son to be a boxer. Unless I'm thinking of someone else?
