T I am tripping here. Is it just me? Look at that first sequence. Jack is huge! Im wondering if that is what he walked around at? Gotta be over 200 pounds, and you can see it is not the clothes, they hang on him for dear life, not off of him. If he was older it shows what he walked around at. The colorization shows his relative size and it makes one think about if JJ had wanted to come in at 230 or so...

lol. yea man. I've always noticed that when I've seen him in those suits. He looks huge. It's like it's padded with something, but you realize it's just that he's a very big dude. I guess it's harder to tell when he's in the ring for some reason.

Incredible combo punching, and could do so moving back off the line. A real athletic marvel.
I also noted his jabbing skills. That was pretty awesome!

            - -Working backwards, those are highlight snippets of action. Most of the time he was just standing around or holding.

Indeed, off the plane a 100 gallon drum would look sleek in comparison, but his arms are stumps.

Some vid copies hav vertical compression that expands the horizontal in cartoon images.

When released from his yr in prison as gym super where he trained daily, he stated he was 220lbs, in fighting shape, and ready for Dempsey. In his prime in the best shape of his carreer, he was around 193. He was in good shape vs Willard around 210.

Jack had to be one of the first to pronate his arm on the jab and extend it out. he still does not use it so much for reach lol, but like a rapier, and to get extension we naturally turn the wrist to do so. I have not seen other fighters from that era use a jab this way...Others may have?

That sounds about right...Travesty brings up a good point about "padding" in the suits. don't know if that was customery or not, but would be interesting to know.

Thats a good point about the film. There might be something at work with that as well. We can say that if Jack had a few pounds on him, was not sleek, and fought today, he would be in the range of a heavyweight.

Could indeed be padded. he was a big fella by any accounts lol. He once said that his father was not very big but had a great physique and taught him how to take care of himself nutrition and activity wise. Maybe he got the size from his mother. I know my two boys are handsome because they got their looks from their mother!

That's just a well-cut suit. His taste in clothes is exemplary. Seriously, those are nice threads.

We live in an era where everything is cheap and expendable. It's really hard to find well-tailored clothing.
