            • The '90s hw no names who were way more advanced than Louis and Rock see how you crazy idiots shouldn't say nonsense like Joe and Rock would do good in future eras based on nothing but highlights and guys they fought in their own era with novice-like tech and flaws?

Marciano was 46 and it wasn't real.

                    - - Ali in his mid 20s said Rocky posed some problems for him, primarily because all punches save head punches were legit, and that's the way Rocky would've fought him with plenty of body shots.

Pay more attention and you might be able to best MonkyMan.

It was supposed to be a sparring session. Marciano was so eager to test himself against Ali that he worked himself into a frenzy working out and was running 10 miles a day. He dropped 35 lbs.

Ali on the other hand was about 235 lbs, but yes much younger and more youthful, a bigger athlete.

however, Ali wasn’t ready to spar with Rocky. In the book “the ghost in the machine” is documents what went down at this event.

Ali was being hit too the body and arms very hard, he started complaining as he was swelling up on his ribs and arms. Eventually he got mad and tagged Rocky with a flush cross. As expected though, all it did was make Marciano breath fire. Marciano then started turning up the pace, and was landing punishing blows to Alis body and head. Ali admittedly said he struggled with Marcianos style. Ali in his own words said he could not lift his arms after a few rounds, and his body had welts on it afterwards. There is no mention of Ali dishing anything out on marciano.

I wouldn’t say this was a totally realistic matchup, but it does shine light on what really happened.

what people don’t know is a short strong pressure fighter will always give a lean fast outboxer problems, because the out boxer can only do one thing: run. Because he’s not a huge puncher to begin with Ali will struggle (and did) punching down at a man 5 ft 10 who is crouching down to 5 ft 6. Its actually a stylistic nightmare.

emmanuel stewart said the Frazier vs Ali bout should be avoided, but money made it happen.

styles make fights. Ali schooled Foreman but Foreman crushed Frazier.

I think the computer fight does give us a lot of info about the rock though. He is a smaller heavyweight for sure. He is also an incredibly strong man and its obvious to see. Ali can’t budge him or even tie him up. Which makes sense because Marciano did punch an old louis clean out of the ring while weighing 186 lbs to Louis 212.

when we talk about fighters this great its hard to really make a call, but in my mind Marciano has a great chance of winning if it was for all the marbles. Marciano was a very determined fighter with a subtle ring craft that most don’t see. He loved fighting. Him and Harry Greb both had this attribute.
