I actually prefer the history section to be slower. Other sections are so busy that you post about something and an hour later you can't find the thread or your thread gets buried.
I need to post more here, where boxing is discussed with other boxing fans! Not fanboys.

I think he became a better fighter after this close call. Cowdell, like I said gave him some issues but was never as close as SD indicates.

One time I was talking to Nacho Beristain at a Marquez workout and we were discussing great Mexican fighters and I brought Sanchez up and he didn't seem to share the same enthusiasm much to my surprise. He said he had horrible technique, won fights because he was stronger than opponents and was only going to decline from that point on. He was more impressed with the techniques of Marquez, Olivares, Zarate, Saldivar, Roman, Chavez, Lopez. I tried to see how he could have such an opinion but it's hard because Sanchez was so great and did so many excellent things all at once. Nacho almost seemed to have disgust for Sal.
I do the very same thing, my wife cooks me plenty of food, then goes shopping and meets her girl friends. Sends me group photos and interrupts my focus. I got a nice projector in one room, and just go for it. Jhonny scratches at the door and takes his seat right next to me. I give him a few dried jerkey for dogs and because the room is nearly pitch black, I once ate his doggy snacks..and he ate mine...

fighters back then knew how to gight, Sanchez would break him down - got in with some tough competition. If he stopped Nelson back when nobody knew who Nelson was - he would stop Loma. Loma is very good I think, and has heart which is rare for today - but he hasn't faced a real live contender. Both Rigo and the Axe murderer quit with no makrs on their faces lol. They both were very inactive. Clearly they aren't championship material.

So many, in general, young dudes only know the current guys and immediately throw out GOAT.... They really bother me when I read posts like that. I find it dismissive of great champions that fought 15 rounders : several times a year.. In an era of fewer weight classifications ..........

Of course Loma isn't a seasoned pro, but he certainly passes an eye test.
Nelson was only a 13 fight novice going into the Sanchez bout and gave Sanchez more than trouble, it's definitely not out of this world to say Loma's got a chance if what you're going off is how many fights he's had.

That's how I see it unfolding.. Sanchez would figure Loma out. And would pressure Loma and make him very uncomfortable.
Chava's triple left to the liver is patentable.

He also took the Sanchez fight on 3 weeks notice. It also must be noted that Sanchez often fought to his opponents level though.

Alot of people in boxing have petty rivalries and hatred of each other. Nacho probably hated Sanchez because Marquez never got the love he did or something like that.

It didn't sound like that. If anything Marquez got major love and Chavez the most but Nacho absolutely loved Chavez. Perhaps he just had some personal issues with him or his team. Nacho is a very honest dude and great to talk Boxing with. He calls it how he sees it and has great views. Him trashing Sanchez is one of the most surprising things someone so respected and knowledgeable and fair from the boxing world has said from my experiences.
