Also Pat Ford had 15 fights and gave him hell. Lomachenko being an 11 fight pro isn't such a huge issue or at least not a reference point given Sanchez' two "least experienced" challenges were also his toughest fights.

Patrick Ford was awkward, and was a different puzzle. Nelson did well considering he took the fight on short notice, then went on to greatness after getting stopped by Sanchez in the 15th..
That was a hell of a fight!! Neither guy wanted to give an inch. It was Puerto Rico against Mexico lol.

Nacho is a very honest dude and great to talk Boxing with. He calls it how he sees it and has great views. Him trashing Sanchez is one of the most surprising things someone so respected and knowledgeable and fair from the boxing world has said from my experiences.
Chris that is very interesting, starting from your initial post on the matter. I would not necessarily expect Nacho to love Chavez so much either.

He was always close to Chavez. There's a ton of mutual respect there. Nacho really rates Chavez' technique very highly. If I was to guess Nacho's favorite fighters I'd say it's Juan Manuel (I asked who's the best Mexican fighter ever while Marquez was warming up in the ring he just pointed), Gilberto Roman, Chavez and Hopkins who he's referred to as his idol. I think he has a clear idea of techniques, punching technique and combinations and Sanchez sometimes did throw arm punches and punches in bursts not pure combinations like a Marquez or a Lopez for example. Of course Sanchez had qualities that those guys didn't have so perhaps its style and something personal but I'd say more of a style preference.

I got the impression he didn't really care too much for Rafael Marquez. I went to Rafa's fight with Esquivas and after the fight spoke to Nacho and he said he only took Rafa back and agreed to train him again as a favor for Juan Manuel due to how much he respects Juan Manuel. He didn't trash him as a fighter but more his professionalism and attitude.

Id of like to have seen JMM & Sanchez fight at feather weight back in the 15 round era. Sanchez broke faces with his "arm" punches.

Me too. Sanchez had a great right hand but it's true he'd sometimes get sloppy and throw arm punches. There's clear examples even in the stoppages of Lopez and parts of the Gomez fight not to mention other fights. He had solid power, but sometimes his punches got sloppy. I love Sal but it's true.

Marquez has a much cleaner punching technique. It would be a close fight. Sanchez could outwork him but my guess is tht Sanchez brings the type of fight out of Marquez we saw more consistently at the 130-135 divisions where Marquez exchanged more. Castillo had the speed and boxing to trouble Sal but not experience or stamina to win 8 rounds. Marquez could and IMO would.

It would be great as both are phenomenal fighters and all-time greats.

I still remember in the Gomez fight, between the 7 th and 8 th round, the camera zooms out and Sal is sitting alone in his calmly waiting for rd 8 to start, and in gomez' corner, his corner men are working frantically to send Gomez back to the field of battle, both eyes closing, absolutely ****ed up, but getting up off his stool nonetheless.. Beautiful!
