As much as I love Marciano, I still think Liston is too strong and his reach is too long for Rocky. Liston within about 5, 7 at the most.

This fight actually happened at a boudoir in New York not long after Rock's retirement. There is no film footage, but I do have a recording that was made live for radio but never aired. Transcribing it into a modern format I can share on the forum is a bit of a technical challenge. The transcription ends after the first round as the producers realize they are not being aired.

Liston was not as quick as Walcott. Not close. Walcott was a master boxer. Liston a puncher. Huge difference.

I would not sell Marciano short against anyone. He was far from the wild slugger he is portrayed. Marciano was very cute in there parrying and slipping inside closing distance before his competition knows what’s happening.

You can see Walcott from the first round on looking to hit Marciano with counters but he is not there to be hit. Marcianos follow through and weave as well as the way he pulled opponents down into him as they reach to hit the smaller target made him a difficult target to hit consistently.

Has anyone seen any accounts of the milking muscle in the wrist of these old time fighters. I figure if it ever existed half widely, that would have been when cows were still milked by hand. They had milking machines, but my dad's friend had to finish off about a hundred cows twice a day by hand. It is one of the most unique in the annals of muscle, I believe.

Great photo of John L with his arms folded that shows off that muscle. But I believe it was you who pointed out that photo first so you probably already know about it.

                  - - Purt fair bet Johnny never milked a single farm animal.

Top ten Milking Muscle Hvys in history anyone?

Actually, there is such a photo of Johnny's wrist, but it is somewhere in here:

                    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDFT3Gn_vwI,

which is worth watching on its own merits anyway.

Correction: The photo is of Sharkey. See Tom Sharkey at 16:56 for possible milking muscle on inside of wrist.
