"The Heavyweights" copyright 2006 by Bob Mee is a pretty good book.It has short career bios and career records for heavyweight champions and most of the heavyweight title challengers from John L Sullivan to 2006.Its not a comprehensive account about each fighter but there are around 200 fighters profiled which makes it a must read about the Heavyweight division history at least to me. I'm pretty sure this book can be purchased relatively cheap on Amazon.Its well worth it.

Four Kings by Pete Hamill is also a great read.It's about the rivalry and all the fights between Thomas Hearns,Marvin Hagler,Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran.

Adam Pollack's book In the Ring With James J Jeffries is outstanding. Extemely comprehensive as are all his books.

I see there is a Joe Choynski book called The Choynski Chronicles and I have been meaning to pick that one up.Golden era heavyweights of the 1890s have always fascinated me.

These have been my favorite boxing books. Good reads, informative and will instill appreciation and respect for fighters of a bygone era. IMHO, the first three are must reads for any fan of the sport.

I've been reading more as of late & looking to add some more boxing books to my reading list. Anything you found good, interesting &/or informative for a boxing fan?

Extra points for some good bare knuckle days, Jack Dempsey & Stanley Ketchel books worth checking out. But feel free to add newer stuff or recent era books too.

If you want a very good historical book that covers a decent amount. Look up "Boxing is my Santuary". It's by Ted the bull Sares. He's an old dude who fought amateurs back in the 50's or 60's. But the guy is a long long time boxing fan turned historian. He used to post a lot on different boxing boards years ago to chop it up with fans. He wrote this book I'd say about 10 years ago or so.

But it's basically tons and tons of short story's on past fights and fighters. It's about a little shy of 300 pages so it's a rather easy read. But also a good read.

Mike Tyson is coming out with another book. His first one was awesome so hopefully this one will be a good read as well.

Seems like a can't miss, given the title.
