Not only is Ward looking to not give a rematch, recent reports has him hinting at retirement. I hope he does then and that Kovalev will be left to dominate the light heavyweight division.

I have never concerned myself with the gate but there are some legitimate issues with the draw of this fight and what is considered profitable.

I do think Ward should rematch and if he doesn't I will gladly eat crow. I also have some concerns: How can Ward be paid a lot of money if this fight does not draw that much interest? And...what does Ward do after this fight? Even if one has vision and says, "i'll take a loss to see Ward become a superstar" he is in a limited weight division. Ward will never be a heavyweight, and its asking a lot for him to take fights at a lower weight.

Ward's prospects are limited frankly. There is no superfight for him on the horizon that I can see...which may be why he is pushing to get a big payday in the rematch. But, would you invest that kind of money given the situation? I wouldn't.

Hello, all. My maiden post here.

But, I did recently watch a UFC event where two judges scored the fight a draw and the other for a fighter. Not only did it get past the referee, but it got past Bruce Buffer as well. They called the fight a Split Decision for one of the fighters. I was in an establishment (unfortunately) and as I looked around, no one thought it to be strange, and then not even the commentators or anyone else thought so either.

I explained to my buddies how this is a Majority Draw and UFC needs to get their act together. The whole night I was kind of picking apart MMA since I'm a boxing head. The guys kind of laughed when I explained it because it was probably the 20th thing they heard from me. They had a UFC Gym sign up at the place for heaven's sake. It's more of a WWF crowd at UFC gatherings. I've never seen something that simple get screwed up in boxing. It may have happened before but nothing that I've ever seen.

Anyways, they reversed the decision to call it a Majority Draw finally and my buddys tell this story pretty often now. To me there's always been a huge difference in discipline at almost every level in MMA compared to Boxing.
