I like Ward. I'd like to see a kovalev rematch too. But, I'd like to see Ward Maximize his earning potential too. None of us is getting younger, and boxers need to take fights when they have no options. Ward has options, and he should at this stage in his undefeated career.
Thats the spirit big Z! The match will happen. There are some market dynamics that have to be figured out, but it will be a better draw than the first. If one looks at that fight, it was a good scrap, with a knockdown, some spots...

Merry Christmas to you as well and to everyone else.

So if these negotiations go on a while, is Ward going to take another fight before rematching Kovalev?

Maybe Duva snuck that into the contract and Ward's people didn't notice. In which case they messed up. I don't know.

But I'd like to hear their side of it at least before passing judgement.
Pursesplits are decided in the same breath. Otherwise one fighter could just demand a ridiculous split like 90-10 to avoid the fight proving a rematch clause useless.

I guess if he identifies as black and does not like to do what others tell him he had better do--even fulfill his contracts--that will be all right then. A black man who resents bossy people should not have to honor his contracts if those people annoy him.

His contracts should state he can void the contract if annoyed by not getting what he considers proper credit. Just an idea.

You seem to know a lot about this Ward-Kovalev rematch clause. What is the required purse split that was agreed to?

I for one will wait for more information to come out before I throw anyone under the bus. But as I understand it any extra money for the winner should come out of Kathy Duva's end as Ray Corso says.

That's usually how it works when you are the promoter of the fighter who officially lost.

Thats not what I meant...I know a lot of people pull the race card, but that does not mean there are some things that are legitimately insulting to people...for right or wrong.

When I met my wife she took me to the Camille Grill in New Orleans. This place features Black Waiters running around with Bow ties in an antebellium type setting. Because of the way I grew up, as a White ******* guy in the sixties, in the North it was insulting to me, a real turn off. People don't have to start a protest, but we all have a right to respond. Me? I won't eat at that place, no matter how good the omelettes.

Don King treated fighters like ****** and many sports institutions are very slave like in their structure... The NFL draft as a kind of slave market lol, or having a "master" promoter...Don King, Bob Arum. I just think that Floyd, Ward, Jones might be sensative to promoters telling them what they have to do. Its not a contract issue. I will say this again: If Ward violates a contract, then I will eat crow. He hasn't. He has a right to tell people not responsible for his interests what he wants... he has a right to have issues with being told what to do, as long as he meets his contractual obligations. We all do!

Merry Xmas to all! happy Holidays whatever they may be. Anthony I thought of that as well. its an interesting question. I am sure it is being considered. They have to ultimately get people interested in this fight. The problem is a loss to either guy would steal any thunder. its too much risk imo.

That's interesting. I didn't know that. Do you have a source?
