Prime Johnson likely clinches Mike to exhaustion then dismantles him once the outside is safe.

Johnson never saw a thing in the world like Mike. He never knew such a thing could even exist. Tyson kills him everywhere but a clinch. Fleeing to the clinch is the key for Johnson, and perhaps the only way out. And this way out is no elk trail but a grand boulevard.
Well Johnson was a farmer and a genetic specimen by his build. He’s like Tyson or Foreman in a sense that he’s an athlete born powerful genetically. Then he worked long hard hours on the farm. He’s incredibly strong. He won’t fold mentally like most of the flashy knock outs mike may have got. With grappling gloves its tough. Mikes punches are quick and come in combinations like Johnson isn’t used to. I’m sure the power would be evident. With grappling capabilities he may just change the fight completely and nullify Mike. With no grappling Johnson won’t stand a chance.

I list the potential wildcards: Johnson being a hardworking man from the olden days is likely very strong and tough, just my person observation. No phones no media just raw humans being as tough as possible. He’s schooled in old bareknuckle tactics. They don’t look sexy because these guys didn’t grow up seeing themselves on tv in HD, they just did what worked best in real life. This could be better or worse in the sense of less distraction but potentially missing knowledge.

the cons: Mike may have fought many cans but he fought in an era with more rules and a better system to rank fighters. Johnson seemed to be fighting in an era of “I’m the sheriff in this town” type match making. Where weight and size meant little outside of who the man was. My guess is Tysons best competition was better than Johnsons best competition (Spinks, Holmes, Holyfield, Lewis)

ill further my previous points that Johnson held the baddest man on the planet title as well, so he’s a bad man, he’s not Bruce Seldon.

now that they are restoring the really old footage, its extremely interesting to watch the worlds best at the turn if the century. Very classic stances and awkward “dated” moves you don’t see anymore, and some older versions of new st****. Some fundamentals have stayed the same. But in the awkwardness of the old style is the confidence and relaxation of great champions that makes me think these fights might have been tougher than expected.

      - - Johnson grew up in Galveston, Texas on the Gulf Coast, the very antithesis of a farming community. Post pubescence he started working the loading docks where he learned how to fight, and before that working in support of local shrimpers and fishermen.

I thought Galveston TX an odd place for farming, isn't it usually under water?

Worked back in the very esrly 80s with this beautiful Texas girl from Galveston named Ronda. Her father was a queer duck he had a pet lion. She told me she use to take chickens, throw them in boiling water, pull off the feathers and throw them to the lion.

I have no idea why I just told you that, but you made me think of her. Lol

            - - Lion probably died impaled by inhaled chicken bones that splinter easily.

Met my Baby Doll Lucille from Freeport, Tx in Austin at ye aulde Armadillo World Headquarters beergarten in late 70s before they shut down. Most naturally voluptuous beauty ever conceived, 18 yrs old dressed in a tee, khaki shorts and flipflops, and of all the stiffs in this God forsaken world, she picked me.

See the Kenny Rogers' hit Lucille for the rest of the story customized just for my circumstances. Took 5 years of daily beatings as the song was played on every work site and public space in town.

Up the Brazos River 30 miles to Angleton, had an uncle who was a big rice farmer, and other truck farms can likewise be established.

ok I was wrong, it was just labour. I was certain he was a farmer for some reason. maybe from the footage of him working out on a farm.

That photo might have been prison work from 1920.

                  - - Prob being JJ was put in charge of the Recreational area and activities because of his friendship with the Warden.

Because of that, he staged a few fights while in prison, and when released, promptly challenged new champ Dempsey.
