  • Joe Louis in the early 70's and 90's..

Would he had been as successful in these two eras?

    As successful?

Joe KO's Ken Norton IMo. And Cooney, for instance, would stand little chance. Joe Bugner will not beat Louis. Joe Louis beats most men in most eras. That part is as simple as that.

Foreman, Frazier and Ali are in a different class from the men above. They are AT contenders themselves. Not such an easy call.

Each person has to ask themselves in the privacy of their closet: If Louis were fighting during the eras mentioned, would I bet my house on him against XXX? Reduced to that, a person makes a choice based on all the information they have, devoid of sentiment.

Joe had perhaps the greatest powerjab in the history of the sport and put punches together brilliantly.. But, in all honesty he did not have the greatest chin in the world.. He was also very vulnerable to a right cross..

I feel Joe gets there first on Norton, who had a great overhand right but was not a super hard puncher. Both chins are vulnerable. Joe gets there first. Joe might have big problems against huge guys who could punch, Like Big Cat Williamas.

I disagree, Joe Louis did phenomenal even against big guys who were big punchers like the Baer bros. and Primo Carnera.

pfff, more like bantam weight, and even at that he couldn't survive 30 seconds.

I think he gets beatdown by frazier, ali, foreman, possibly Norton, and jimmy young gives him hell

90s evander, tyson, bowe, lennox would all probably beat him...

Louis reigned over an incredibly weak era... He was a great puncher, but footwork and size would be his downfall vs the guys from 70s n 80s

Never faced anyone as good as Norton or bowe, and they are the fringe forests from those eras
