When Tyson was at his best it was estimated that during one of his typical fights he was making something like a million bucks a minute. thats not a rip off but its also quite a hefty cash receipt!

      Definitely the chavez-tszyu fight...

Holmes was a cash grab, but wasn't mike fresh out of opponents then as he had just beaten all the top guys from 86-87... I don't know who else you could have had him fight in early 88... Maybe Tim Witherspoon or dokes, but guys like ruddock and evander weren't established contenders yet..
But it did suck for larry to only have a 4 weeks notice..

Although significant, Douglas against Holyfield was a major cash grab.

It certainly had meaning it just happened years after it should have as far as the fight itself hagler was past his prime and fought the wrong fight giving away rounds early by trying to outbox leonard from a right handed stance. Another concern of mine was hagler 's corner should have sensed the fight and sent Marvin out with a sense of urgency as they did when Marvin closed the duran fight stongly. Leonard although inactive was studying Marvin as well. Dispite the build up the fight had few meanful exchanges.

                Duran-leonard 3
                Roy-hopkins 2
                Roy-tito
                Barrera-khan
                Vargas-Mayorga
Duran actually hugged leonard before the fight and thanked him for the opportunity as he was recently put heavly in debt by the IRs after receiving his 7 mill purse he only netted 250 thousand as his purse was seized directly. He said this debt really impacted him mentally. Going into that fight many people expected a very good fight based on Durans performance against barkly. It was a yawn fest. It was so cold that Leonards corner was smart enough to bring blankets in between rounds. Durans corner did not.

For a cash grab that never happened.. I'm really surprised that we didn't get to see
foreman-Holmes sometime in the 90s.. I know there was talk about it happening in the late 90s and having it in the astrodome

Haye vs Klitschko. Haye just came for a payday, he didn't even try to win.
