its the closest thing Ali haters can try point to, to try prove his supposed weakness in the chin area. A brief knockdown, against a good puncher, when he was 21 yrs old. And he got up and won by stoppage a round later.

Its all the ammo they have.

I am a big Ali booster and he has said the punch that he was vulnerable to was a short inside left hook ala coop and Joe

Cooper was as they used to say in the 1890's "one game chicken!" beautiful punch, and Cooper hung in to be able to deliver it. Ali just had those amazing recuprative abilities. Also once Ali decided to cut the crap that was usually it.

Ali reminds me of a scene in Kentucky Fried Movie...They are lamponing Bruce lee's "Enter the Dragon" where he fights in the tournament. In the comedic version you see a slow motion shot of the Lee scream and you hear a crunch as a kick is delivered and the opponent goes flying, the next scene you see him shake it off, then sa,e set up Lee knocks him down, you see him on thr guys chest as he turns, you see lees face contort and you hear crunching sounds...the guy calmly gets up...Finally you see Lee on the guys chest, taking a car engine throwing it on top of him, etc....

Ali got hit with some shots that most guys would never have shook off!

It is a complete myth.. i have the original BBC footage of that fight, Clay was up at the count of 4 and the bell rand 2 seconds later. there was no panic or changing of gloves etc. it is all made-up rubbish. There was no 5 minutes rest between rounds, Clay had exactly 60 seconds rest, he then came out and knocked the living hell out of Cooper unto the referee stopped the fight. The film footage does not lie. Dundee & Cooper both made ridiculous claims, which were nothing other than made-up gibberish.

You got it exactly right. If Clay got any extra seconds it was just a few.

So to answer the question, it's because the fight ended in a TKO, Ali had little, if any, extra time and the right call was made. TKO win for Ali or Clay, as he still was at the time.
