Louis was a much more devistating puncher per se.
Carnera wasnt even an amateur ,his skills today wouldn't even get him a sparring partner gig,Lewis fighting anyone that Joe fought would be a joke .The power in Lewis right hand greatly exceeds any punch Louis was capable of throwing .

Hardest puncher, hell there are so many, is this P4P or just heavyweights ? I know Graziano hit like a heavyweight. Darcy knocked out heavyweights and he was a middleweight. Jack Dempsey and Marciano were awesome for their weight, Kostya Tszyu was an incredible puncher. I don't think the title of hardest puncher can be assessed properly, it's largely opinion but we must pay respect to Sugar Ray Robinson and respect for the old time writers opinions on this subject, some were known for great body shot power and others who knocked out nearly everyone they hit on the jaw like my old time mate, Eddie McGoorty who had one of the great left hooks.

If only there was a fan out there who was 300 years old and had travelled around to watch everyone fight for 280 years, now that guy would have some stories to tell and could compare them all.

It kind of reminds me of nature tv shows about how Lions have bigger jaws with more overall force but Hyenas deliver a more powerful bite at a smaller spot.

Thats a lot of hyperbole....the fact is he was not particularly skilled but a tough strong guy who could punch. he wasn't fit to be a sparring partner unless one as preparing to fight a similar opponent.

You do not understand how punching power works....you and Sonny should butt heads together till you see chrome bubbles ok?

Power is only as good as the ability to deliver it,Carnera wouldn't make it in the top 20 today, you dont know what you're talking about.Speed ,technique and accuracy ultimately makes up a superior punch ,add in size and anyone on my list hit harder than Louis its not even debatable .

You mention three attributes of punching then contradict yourself totally by saying one attribute determines that one fighter punches harder than the rest....check your logic then repost.

By the way there is no evidence that the biggest fighters hit the hardest, yet you think size triumps all these other considerations? you been buttin heads with Sonny too long. I guess David Haye can't punch very hard compared to that Russian with gigantism who he beat....because the Russian was bigger yes? give it a break your killin me.

Statistics and common sense support they hit harder ,again speed and technique also determining factors of how hard a punch will be delivered that is common knowledge ,no one with actual boxing experience would disagree. No one with real hold on reality would have Louis in a top 10 spot here,im also not the one that couldnt decipher why using Primo Carnera was comical...that was you, even to the point that a guy like Bert Sugar even called him the worst HW champ in history .
