Bernard Hopkins vs Floyd Mayweather

Some of Mayweather's best wins were no different, like having Hatton and Marquez come up in weight where they never fought before(and didn't even make weight against JMM). I still consider them great wins, but I'm not a nitpicker like you when it comes to weight/size.
Mayweather's resume is one of the most nitpicked in all of boxing, and I could have a field day with his record when it comes to weight, opponents being past prime, cherrypicking, DUCKING(oh boy) etc. The latter btw is a good comparison, Hopkins may have some losses(mostly ATG's) but hey, he can say he fought just about everybody in his era and when most of them were at their best. Can't say the same for Mayweather.
And you still haven't gone in depth into his resume and accomplishments like I generally did for Hopkins, so you still should.
Nobody said Hopkins had an ATG winning streak at MW, but consistency is always a feat in boxing history and is always rewarded. Do you remember all of Larry Holmes' title defenses? Or Joe Louis'?(and please don't act like I'm comparing Hopkins to them in general as I'm simply making an example about something here). Like I said earlier I'm open minded about this topic as I believe it is close between these two, but to say "there's no comparison" in favor of Mayweather is completely laughable and endangers your credibility here.
It's not about nit picking. It's about facts. They were unproven at a weight. It's like giving Klitschko full credit for beating Marco Huck. Huck is a great cruiserweight, but isn't proven at heavyweight.
Well, Mayweather didn't fight everybody no, he hasn't fought Pacquiao. but he fought just about everybody else. In comparison, did Hopkins fight Toney? McClellan? Kulumbay? No he didn't. Mayweather clearly has a history of fighting the best guys in his division, and I'm not one to dwell on the whole Pacquiao thing, I would rather look at him going after Hernandez, Corrales, Prince Naz, ODLH - when Mayweather was practically begging for that fight - etc.
Mayweather also has more haters than everybody else, which leads to people having a clouded judgement when it comes to his achievements. Do I agree with everything he does? No. I think he's annoying too. But what I don't understand are people can criticize Mayweather for making Canelo drop 2 pounds, but then turn around and call Pavlik an ATG win when he's 10 lbs above his natural fightweight and it was much more suited to Hopkins.
Look, I agree. Consistency is very important. But Mayweather has been just as consistent - but in more weightclasses.
As I said, he's a HOFamer and an ATG. He has a well deserved place as a top fighter in this era (or last era) depending on how you measure it. But I think Roy Jones, Mayweather and Pacquiao are three guys we can safely say are greater than he. But Hopkins comes in right after - which is definitely not a bad place to be.Comment

yea hopkins has losses on his record but most of them are disputed
he lost to roy jones jr 8-4, if floyd fought the equivalent of roy when floyd was as inexperienced, he would have lost
taylor losses - i thought he won both, poll results at time indicated most people felt he won first fight, havent seen poll for second fight
calzaghe - disputed loss yet again
lets not forget, these losses came in his 40s
Floyd was the equivalent of Roy in his young days.Comment

But in the history section we should be able to have a decent discussion about him without having insults thrown around.Comment

I won't even blame them because if you post in NSB and someone says something positive (or negative) about floyd they are usually fanboys or haters. Which is why I tend never to post about him there.
