hopkins fooled everybody with the way he fought vs trinidad, he showed a different side to his game

with regards to skill level, mayweather has a better defence, stamina, left hook and jab to the body. and in regards of the pugilistic art of hitting and not getting hit i favour mayweather due his edge in athleticism

hopkins has a better chin, dirty tactics and right hand

so overall, yea floyd has higher skill level

something has to be said for hopkins' accomplishments at such an advanced age . because these achievements are unique, a lot of stock has to put into them.

also, he has continually faced the best available competition whereas lately at welterweight, mayweather has not.

you shouldnt get points for fantasy h2h matches in all time great lists - and because of this, you shouldnt be docked too many points for losses

mayweather still hasnt fought pacquaio citing an array of reasons which most see as excuses. and he isnt seeking out his next toughests rivals after pacquaio who are bradley and brook.

I have Mayweather ahead of Hopkins.

But what B-Hop achieved at an advanced age will surely have him go down in history as boxing royalty. I doubt that we'll see anyone else holding a world title belt at 49 in my lifetime. Although that is of course speculation

I also have to add a big WTF to people referring to IronDan as an NSB regular. Surely Dan is synonymous with the History Section?

I would argue that Floyd's right hand is better. Lightning quick and very accurate plus he throws it frequently unlike Hopkins who has always had a low punch output.

Mayweather has the best pull back counter right hand to the jab since ali.

But Hopkins' lead right is equally as accurate , and the reason I give bhop the edge with the lead right is because of his timing. Floyd telegraphs the punch by rotating his back foot. Madiana actually capitalised on this and countered him.

you can discredit a lot of mayweathers opponents too but just the fact that hes not fought the number 1 welter, puts him down loads in greatness. If he fought pacquio then yeh I would put him ahead of Hopkins
