  • Was Tyson-Seldon a Fix?

I can believe that the first knockdown was legit, Tyson grazed his head, but he still hit him on the top of the head pretty hard (I would assume) and Seldon went down. It's hard to see the second punch, but Tyson threw a furious combination there, so I'm sure something landed. But when Seldon gets up and starts staring at the ref and realizes the fight is going to continue, he starts shaking his legs like he's going to fall and the ref buys it and stops the fight and Tyson wins by first round KO, and wins the title.

Is Seldon just a paper champion and a coward or was he paid off? Do you think if the fight hadn't been fixed, would Seldon have had ANY chance to win anyway?

    Here's the fight:

Fixed fights usually look better than that. Seldon realized that he wasn't going to win and he'd get paid once he answered the bell. He took the easy way out and boxing took another hit.

No one paid Seldon, Tyson didn't need any help at that time in his career!
Seldon didn't have a solid chin throughout his career.

I'll never forget his fight with bowe. he went down like a ton of bricks from a very average left hook. Im not sure what was worst his chin or his heart

It's not that Seldon was that bad, he simply wasn't anything special, certainly a weak champion.

              No it wasn't fixed I don't reckon.

Thing with Mike is that his "being shot" is largely a myth.

Even right at the end vs Williams and McBride, Tyson was among the most dangerous of opponents and top contender level.

He won nearly every round against Williams before being knocked out, Williams himself being a huge puncher and very big guy.

Against McBride, again Tyson was winning that fight before he quit!

Tyson also stopped Golota, Botha, Bruno. Lewis opponents who were of higher calibre than Seldon ever was.

Ettiene was a hard hitting rising top contender which Tyson stopped in a single round viciously only 3 fights before the end.

Bottom line is is that few fighters could withstand Tyson, not just in his "prime".. But at ANY time!

Well I think Mike easily KO's Danny Williams if he doesn't twist his knee at the end of the first round. He looked awesome in that first round. After that, he was handicapped with a bum knee, and he's in there with a guy who is still a professional heavyweight who's been to school, and Tyson ends up having to quit because he knows he can't continue with the knee.

tyson was still explosive on offense back then but his stamina and will were gone. it didnt take much adversity for him to fold his tent and go home. he just didnt have his heart in it anymore

Dead accurate analysis, and I bet Tyson would agree.
