Hagler took Tommy's best shots, Tommy couldn't deal with Marvin's!
It's as simple as that and its on film to see if you don't believe me.
Hagler was a unique fighter in that he displayed a two handed attack from the conventional stance and the southpaw stance. He wasn't a power puncher but put combos together from either side and never neglected the body.
He had an outstanding education developed by fighting a wide variety of fighters with different styles and opponents who were more than willing to fight.
His cuts were not an issue when considering a tko stoppage. In Vitali's case that cut was on the verge of serious damage to the eye and eye socket. When you consider the amount of muscle and tendons and nerves in such a small area the depth of that cut was extremely serious.

Hagler rules today's middleweights with only GGG being a competitive opponent
and I'll take Hagler over him. Haglers work rate would expose GGG defensive liabilities. Haglers pro opponents diversity lends to his experience factor being far beyond GGG's.

I think the AP pole had 146-141 Hagler and that was ok by me. Close fight not a great fight but a good one.

Kevin Finnigan whooped Hagler's ass TWICE, yet was BUTTED out of both fights... Hagler fought nothing but tomato cans his whole career. What you are failing to comment on is that Duran was a lightweight... name me the lightweights who defeated the middleweight champion?..... yes a lightweight exposed Marvin Hagler as a fraud, "YOu Ain't No Marvelous" Duran called to him as they awaited the decision. Hagler with his eye beaten shut, his lips cut and bleeding, shook his head. Hagler was nothing special as Ray Leonard proved.

i have commented on the score of this fight before but it should not have been as close as the judges had it but after 12 duran fought a more competitive fight than Leonard did. Marvin was just so dominant in 83
