    • He was great early on in his career, but he wasn't even very good in the 70s. They just had him fight bums so that he would stay champ.

Besides, how does it even matter now? he's a shell of his former self. Let sleeping dogs lie.

Bums like Frazier 2x, Foreman, Spinks 2x, Norton, Patterson, Quarry....

        All bums.

Wasn't very good in the 70's? His resume was great in the 70's.

Or the way 2 other posters try and teat down Joe Louis and Joe Frazier. Its pathetic.

Gotta laugh at some of the ignorance that pollutes these boards, Mersey.

Well said Ree, I mean Frazier couldn't even throw a left hook, Foreman had the lightest fists since Slappsy Maxie, Norton couldn't even beat a fighter who didn't know how to throw a left jab in Larry Holmes! Patterson's handspeed was on a par with my Gran's...........when shes in the local swimming baths!

You were well out though with Leon Spinks, he was a great fighter. He won a gold medal like another boxing legend Audley Harrison.

Another bum to add to your list is Earnie Shavers who is universally recognised as being the lightest punching man to ever have fought for the title, even that poof Jenny '*****' Quarry knocked him out with his powder puff fists.

Altogether I think we are both in agreement with Floydsera, Muhammad Ali was one terrible champion in the 70s......I'd rate Bruce Seldon higher, at least he had the guts to face the tallest heavyweight champion ever in Mike Tyson!!!!!!!!!

                • ****** ass article, whoever wrote that is biased as hell. He downgrades everything Ali has done, won or lose. Why would you even count fights like Spinks and Berbick? Ali was an old man then.

                  • I am now officially ******er after reading this article. It lost all credibility once I saw the name "Trevor Berbick."

                    • Gee with the logic this guy used I think I could discredit every known boxer as a bum. Clearly this guy must have lost a lot of money betting on Ali, or his girl got bagged by the guy or something because this is downright non-sense.
