Sometimes statistics fool us. What is 49-0 and great in one era doesn't
mean much when whe're moving on to the next era.
Larry holmes was once 49-0, and then lost his next match.

Rocky Marciano is rarely mentioned as a top 3 boxer of all time. Ali, however, is. I strongly disagree though that Ali is the best we've seen. The young Mike Tyson, under correct strategical coaching, would beat Ali, in my opinion. Tyson had everything before losing his speed. Later becoming neutralized, by the likes of Holyfield, and Lennox Lewis.

Marciano I am not so sure. He boxed so differently from everybody else!

Didn't haye put him out in about 14 minutes... Chisora would get stopped pretty easy by Marciano

Neither Chisora or Haye would even be allowed to fight Marciano today.

Just take a look at them. That settles that dispute right there.

It's "physically impossible" for Marciano to beat either.

Close enough. The 49-0 record is not impossible in modern times.

                    Exposed in 10 seconds..

                    (1) Those were very specific examples, over representative samples its clear the greater the weight difference, the greater the incidence the heftier guy wins.

                    (2) In none of those examples was there a 60lb weight differential. Not even close.

I like Marciano and he has puncher chance against the chinnier version of Ali but he isn't a real HW as we'd describe him today.

He isn't even what we'd today describe as a proper CW really.

But he did hit much harder than his size suggests. I'll give you'se all that much.

The one win short is the difference between Holmes tying the record for a heavyweight champion or not. So while very impressive, not really close enough.
