  • Muhammad Ali was a very fast HW. He was nowhere near as fast as a modern Cruiserweight or the lighter weight fighters of his day, that's a lame comment.

You say I wanked over size, you just wanked over him.

I think guys like David Haye and Corrie Sanders, Chris Byrd and Eddie Chambers were as fast as Muhammad in hand speed.

I have seen most all of Ali's fights and I didn't think it was that blinding.

Most modern fans who view Muhammad's fights all say the same thing, that he didn't look very impressive and neither did his opponents, especially in the 60's. You know this is true.

If you want to question whether modern fans are smart or ****** that's up to you but I'm just calling it how I see it bro.

What would be intriguing is the fight style Ali would have to take to beating either of those three and could it work?

He'll always have speed on his side but he necessarily wont have the range, he couldn't afford to have a tear up with any of those three so he would definitely need to be on the move for 12rds, no rope-a-doping against those three it wont finish well.
      Thank god!

Thank you for comment, it's nice to see somebody give serious reflection for a change. For a moment there I though this board was completely full of one-eyed, black and white fools.

I agree the challenges would be different. Muhammad does have the speed advantage. He would also not gas as easy. These are his strengths he carries with him against the power and size of the giants.

Would it be enough is a very valid question, I fail to see why LacedUp and his obvious alts here are so ashamed to admit that.

When Ali weighed what we would today consider a "SMALL" HW he was chubby.

In fact Ali's workouts were all of the "distance" variety, HITT training was not common in those days, he did not do all his sprints as we'd say today. And it shows in his body. Even when fit, he was a "skinny/fat", i.e. he never really had a 6-pack, was never really ripped like a modern boxer. (Except Arreola etc of course)

Speaking of Arreola he was 6'4". You also neglected to include the "weight" the most important part of size for those boxers you listed. The smallest by weight is...

Bryant Jennings. The smallest current HW boxer in the top 10 is by far heavier AND leaner AND fitter than ANY boxer of the 1960's or 1970's that was a serious competitor. That's just how it is.

LacedUp has completely manufactured an entire story for Muhammad here and bashing all that came after, all of which is simply not true!

He was a great champion but I would be very hesitant in calling him the "greatest".

As for those pictures Weltsch... LOL No comment necessary =P
You have to take into consideration LacedUp has a big tattoo of Muhammad Ali on his shoulder so its going to be hard for him to say anything other than Ali being the greatest, I mean If I was ****** enough to do that I'd have to argue it aswell.

Ali's physique in ways reminds me of a prime Fedor Emelianenko, obviously I don't mean they've got the exact same physique I'm not saying who looks better but in the same way they've got that little bit of fleshy mid-section but they're still in incredibly good condition.

I like both fighters but what I don't like is the incredible amount of bias shown towards certain fighters.

Ali is without a doubt a great champion but he isn't the best we've ever had in terms of ability and everything else took into consideration but he is pretty close to it.

        • Yes he is certainly no slouch there Red. I was kind enough to offer him 5th spot, which even if you think should be higher, I feel is still fairly generous for a supposed "hater".

Just imagine, suggesting Ali might be 5th best and threatened to be banned and insulted on my first few days. Bias just a bit? LOL

I think Ali would have a better gas tank than most modern HW's because smaller bodies require less energy and big muscles burn more oxygen which is why big guys like Lenny, Vits and Waldo need to conserve more, especially Waldo with his bodybuilder like muscles.

That being said though I think if Ali was dropped by guys like Jones and Cooper and Frazier etc, I also think Lenny and Wlad would scramble him with their sharp ramrod rights.

Ali got hit in nearly all of his fights by guys that were far less reachy and far slower than any of those 3 giants. So to think they would not lay their power on him too is a bit naïve if you ask me.

Yeah the iron chinned Wlad would have an easy nights work with Ali.

Probably knock him out in 3-4 rounds - quicker than he knocks everyone else out.

            • I have never once seen Wladimir ever get knocked down by anything other than a huge punch from a huge puncher. Against Peter we seen Wlad get dropped and get back up to win.

He gassed against Puritty, got headbutted against Sanders and complete evidence is available in the form of the Judd letter to show that Wladimir was in fact very ill in Brewster 1 which is obvious from the footage anyway.

I am not saying Wlad has an iron chin, he doesn't, but he definitely has a good chin..

"MUCH harder than Ali's would've been"

How could it really be otherwise?

Can you really envision guys like 210lb Frazier, 185lb Cooper and 188lb Jones etc knocking Wlad down let alone out? Of course not. The division is different now you must know that, just look at the competition and power you have to survive in order to make it to the top now.

It would be an interesting fight, my tip is a Wlad KO in 5, Vits and Lenny would get him out of there in 2 I believe because they are much more aggressive.

I could be wrong, I'm not saying it's iron clad, you might be right all along but I know one thing,

You are not worth debating with because you can only see things your way, I seen you on NSB and all you do is constantly trash current and recent boxers and fans.

I thought you were a mod or a respected person but turns out you are perhaps the biggest troll of the lot here! Fact!

If you strip the flab off of most of Wlad's opponents you end up with guys who are no bigger than Cooper or Jones.
