Ali proved his skills against better fighters than Louis, that seals it for me. Louis is #2 without a doubt though. Technically he is the far superior fighter to Ali, but boxing is a strange sport, and Ali's combination of overall speed, size, chin and boxing brain just such makes him such a hard guy to beat, which is why I think he would take it h2h over Louis prime for prime also. (wouldnt rule out a trip to the canvas for ali though)

when were talking about Greatness, just because Louis was the number 1 before Ali came around, in my opinion doesn't mean he's battling Ali for first place. He's a clear second place to Ali in my eyes

Its clearly Ali...
He beat better heavyweight opponents, fought in a much tougher era, has a better resume, and would beat louis H2H
Louis gets alot of praise for his long reign and plus the political surroundings of his era, but in reality, he reigned over a relatively weak era in heavy, and never fought the heavyweights the caliber of foreman, frazier, etc...

Rocky marciano?
To tell you the truth,I'm the biggest Ali fan their is,but I'm starting to at least
consider Rocky Marciano as the greatest..Ali has admitted many times that
he didn't train as hard as he should have for many of his big fights, including
Frazier/Ali 1...this is a big turnoff to me..The greatest are serious all the time,
every time like Marciano was and Floyd Mayweather for example. When a boxer
doesn't have any other job in his life,I expect him to train 100% every time,
and if he doesn't it should be used against him.
