I never understood why floyd didnt try and fight spadafora, and johnston in 03 after his castillo fights.. Those would have been much bigger fights than n'dou and sosa...

If memory serves me correctly i think HBO was building towards a sapda-floyd fight as both were undefeated, both had been showcased on HBO and both had lengthy title reigns, but then Spada choked vs dorin and got a draw and then legal issues pretty much killed the fight from happening....

Casamoyer, freitas, castillo, corrales gave us great great fights,, a very underrated fab 4 type, that did not get the recognition that it deserved
Mayweather could have fought for Johnston but for whatever reason he turned it down.

HBO tried to make Mayweather-Casamayor but both fighters claim they wanted it and offered the other side a fight and the other side turned it down. A lot of posturing. No one reallys knows the truth other than those two teams.

Mayweather fought the best of the punch IMO in Castillo and Corralles but there's definitely a few fights that could have been made that didn't. Notably Johnston.

I've seen a lot people have him around top ten. He was a force in his day.

Then they are some pretty awful lists if they have Mosley in their Top 10.

I doubt I'd even have him in my Top 20 and if he was he'd be at the tail end of it.

          Very good lightweight era.

135 also seems to have consistency historically being a very deep division, to this day included. I'm talking talent and boxing wise. Historically speaking, we see so many fighters with a great amount of talent, fighting during the same period of time in history.

What we get is great fighters fighting each other, unlike some other divisions. Which means a lot of quality fights.

So many great fights to be made in the 135 - 147 lbs range.

Today's lightweight division stinks. Especially if you compare it to what it used to be.

Mosley was a great fighter in a terrible division,, he beat really no one of historic note at lw,, similar to hopkins early reign at mw pre-tito,,,

mosley would match up well vs castillo, corrales. Frietas would be tricky but eventually fold,, Casamoyer IMO is one of the toughest outs, and one of the most underrated fighters of the past 20 years,, He was a tricky, dirty southpaw, cuban, with great movement and technical ability. I honestly think he would have been one of floyd's greatest challenges, and i thought he got scored alot on the scorecards

Hopkins MW reign, whilst weak, absolutely blows Mosley's out of the water. That's even if you don't include Trinidad.

Mosley fought like what? 2 ranked fighters? 3 at most.

I agree on him matching up well with Castillo and Corrales (Still don't think he has an easy time in those fights though) and I very much doubt he'd have an easy time with Johnston, Casamayor or Freitas. Mayweather beats him easily.

I think A LW Mosley wrecks those guys, Floyd excluded and even then its a tough tough fight! Mayweather really improved from his LW days. Stevie Johnson would have gave him a tough fight but i think they were good freinds and didnt want to fight(?)
Mosley was exceptional, Lightweight is a DEEP division though........
