joe louis i could never consider to be a "great" defender,, he was ok, but lets not act like he was a defensive genius,, his genius was in his punches,,, thats what made him great, not his average defense

I Was talking about the video quality and was saying Louis was not a fast mover. I never said Louis was a great defensive fighter or that he was hard to hit just that it's not as easy as most people think it is

          What people don't

What people don't realize is that everyone uses the techniques and tactics of persuasion each day

Louis's feet were too slow for him to have been a defensive genius
Had a sound defence for an attack minded fighter, but guys like Charley Burley, Holman Wiliams, Jimmy Bivins, Hopkins, Toney and Winky, were all technically, better defenders than Joe imo

Obviously Herol Graham, Sumbu Kalambay, '77-'78 Hagler. Chris Eubank's head slips in his first fight Michael Watson were the best I've ever seen lb4lb.

Eubank abandoned defence after Watson I
Relied, more or less, solely on his granite chin after that

Kalambay, is a great shout however

Eubank abandoned defense?? His defense was often near-impeccable, against Malinga, Thornton, Wharton and all the Close and Collins fights - however he threw only half the punches Close and Collins did.
