It's sad that they had to rob someone so far past his best, and I admired how Holyfield took it like a man and didn't cry about it. One positive though is that if he'd gotten the W he may have faced Haye or a Klitschko which I wouldn't have wanted to see.
I for one am glad of the robbery in a strange way. As you mentioned, I'd rather have seen Holyfield robbed against this guy, and have some pride bragging rights, than get the win and get a shot at Haye or Klitschko only to go in and get utterly annihilated.

There is nothing worse than seeing once great fighters literally brought to their knees by younger, but lesser, men. I'll never forget seeing a 90 year old Duran beaten up and stopped by Joppy. Just tragic. I'd rather Holyfield go away with the feeling of a win, rather than face someone who would leave no doubt as to his age.

Frankly speaking, I do not understand such concerns (or I am missing something). Holyfield should have won and should've become the champ. He could have announced retirement after and wouldn't have to fight any more. If he felt strong enough and decided to fight anyhow, he should've been aware that he could be KO'd quickly with all repercussions to his career and health similarily to last-fight-serious-losers as Jeffries or Louis who are the legends.
Therefore, am I missing something ?

You're missing a lot. Judging by your post in here, I'm not going to waste time explaining everything you are missing.

Your Jeffries/Louis comparison to Holyfield is way off. Neither hung around anywhere near as long as Holyfield did.

So, you already wasted your time just to write that you're not going to waste your time on me ?

My answer is -- do not waste my time with such posts.

anyone remember sauerland sweating at ringside & the look of relief when the decision was made? that was one uncomfortable dude... nick Charles was disgusted commentating this fight. he was hard on both guys & I could be wrong but I think he even said it was the worst HW title fight he ever was a part of...

What's a Mintcar? Where did that screen name come from?

Holy did get jobbed, Valuev was horrible.

Evander deserved a payday against one of the Klits even if he would have gotten beat.

I said I wasn't going to waste time with everything that you are missing which I didn't. I only covered one subject.

Basic reading comprehension is required. Try to find some.

It was a terrible heavyweight fight. Holyfield seemed to do more than Valuev, but he was fighting very cautiously and landed very few meaningful punches. That's why I never felt the outrage that most fans did.

OK, I will try next time perhaps. Today, you've bored me enough now with your rudeness.

Apropos reading comprehension, I did not compare Holyfield to Jeffries and Louis, I just mentioned possible result what could've happened.

Back to the subject, I am done with didascalia.
