We all know Harry Greb bested Jack Dempsey in sparring to the point Dempsey never fought him instead opting for most of Grebs leftovers. My question is could Greb have beaten Marciano had the two of them ever fought? Could Harry outmaneuver him or would Rocky catch up ala Jersey Joe?

It's impossible to tell for me because we don't have any footage of Greb.

All we do know is it would likely be fireworks and brutal.

Despite all the rumours about Greb's legendary sparring with Dempsey, I'd bet my house that prime Dempsey would likely stop him in an actual fight.

Eating Tunney's punches at light heavyweight is one thing, but reports don't indicate that Greb was a defensive master by any means.....and I don't fancy anyone that small would find it easy absorbing Dempsey's, or Marciano's heavy artillery.

Hard to tell based on lack of footage on greb...

If someone put a gun to my head, and made me choose, it would probable be marciano,,

I think Greb would have some success, much like archie moore, but i think marciano would eventually catch him, and stop him IMO

But very hard to tell, plus this wasnt greb's ideal weight class and marciano would be a naturally stronger and bigger fighter....


Also the rules in Greb's day were alot more laxed then when marciano fought, so not sure how that would effect him

From what I have read Greb was elusive but did not carry a big punch although being extremely quick handed. I think the rock connects and wins. When tunney reversed his results he focused on Harrys body to slow him down.

Very good point, and something Marciano would undoubtedly do.

Of course there's so little of Greb, but Rocky is one of the best ever when it comes to stamina and chin.

Like Dan said, it is difficult to give an accurate prediction without any footage of Greb. But I do know how big Greb was, and I wouldn't pick anyone that size to beat Marciano. Otherwise Ezzard Charles would have beaten him.

i presume rocky would wear him down it's all just imagination work and triangle theories anyway so meh
