  • Jones vs Brannon

To be honest when Roy Jones faced Bryant Brannon I thought his reign
might be over.Brannon was a pipe-hitting brother that ran across the
ring to attack Jones full blast. He was sculpted like a statue and he was
throwing bombs at Jones.Jones, unbelievably weathered the storm and
dropped Brannon like a bad habit...I could not believe it..good for Jones..
he got it done again..the extra bonus was that they were filming the
movie Devil's Advocate in the crowd...It was truly a great win for Jones
    because Brannon came to win.

Brannon was an honest C level fighter who IMO only came to get lucky, and if boxing was bodybuilding he would have definitely been a contender.

The "storm" RJJ weathered was little more than a light sprinkle to Superman at the height of his superpowers, it was an entertaining fight for as long as it lasted but IMO far from a great win for someone of RJJ's caliber.

      hahahahahahaahahahaha

I remember this fight only for the fact that during the prefight presser, roy got grilled by reporters as to why he was fighting this novice instead of champion frankie liles, roy's amateur nemesis

Roy is the all time career cherrypicker,, floyd has nothing on roy jones

Jones's left hook combos were incredible that night whatever the opposition!

yeah i know,, couldnt agree more,,, the dude was shot beyond belief and thats when he decides calzaghe, hopkins, go overseas, etc

its a damn shame, because had roy fought G-man, benn, eubanks, collins, liles, nunn, michlewski and he probably would have beaten them all, Roy would be a lock for top 20 ATG maybe even top 10,, he had the talent, just not the resume

Yes, Roy wrote the book on being grossly overpaid by HBO for fighting unworthy mandatory contenders.

There are much worse title challengers now. Brannon was undefeated and beat undefeated future champ Eric Lucas. In spite of that it was probably his war on national television with the comebacking James Green that got him notice and the title shot.

yeah, but mayweather took alot more challenges in his career,, just look at all the ppv fights floyd had compared to the 2 that roy had with toney and ruiz, and they were about a decade apart,,

roy really has only hopkins, toney, ruiz on his ledger, and i guess tarver 1,, floyd has cherrypicked alot but he has also taken the big fights vs oscar, hatton, cotto, canelo, corrales etc

roy was more content in beating mediocre fighters on regular HBO for guarnateed money, instead of trying to land big event type fights like floyd has had with hatton, oscar, etc
