who do you have your eye on?

they break your heart....you spend your cash wining and dining them....only the best friends, pizza, wings and beers ( I remember watching Holy and Moore doing wippets in San Francisco but that was a different story!) the HBO crew like a top notch waiter, a Buffer brother announcing your date.....and the date goes well...Mayorga beats Six Heads!, Nando continues undefeated....and then, they break our hearts.

That prospect that stole the show alas...will not make the grade. And we say NEVER AGAIN!!! This time its MMA and Curling for real!!

But we can't help it....we look at that girl in the red dress out of the corner of our eye....and we get ready to repeat the cycle again, so in that spirit i ask: Who are you looking at to make history in the history section? what fighters are looking like they may become elite from the ground up?

    I will start.

Ruiz. I think this kid is fabulous. In a sobering evening he managed to show a great chin. think the adjustments on defense can be made...But the things you can't teach, like handspeed, chin, coordination and power make this kid look like the best of the heavy weight prospects....

I know i know I am blinded yes....thats the point! Anyone blinding you?

vasyl lomachenko looks scary good for a one fight pro.

ruiz didn't wow me too much. the guy is straight up obese.

at this stage, i'm most interested in his weight. he's getting heavier....

        horrible sign.

good chin, exciting style for a modern HW, but eventually that flab is going to catch up to him. expect a short, exciting career. he'll be moved quickly, as there's money to be made at HW, and he's not the type of HW who needs many eyars to fill out. he's stocky.

Ruiz will never be an elite heavy,, he has decent skills and handspeed and pop,,, but way too many belly jiggles to ever be considered elite

Felix Vardejo looks like the goods,, Im really excited about his future, i think he is the best young fighter today

Errol Spence looks good, also very excited about him, but i dont think he is as polished as felix

George Carter Jr,, he is under the radar, is like 11-0, fights out of the quad cities in iowa but is from galesburg Illinois... We were on alot of the same cards as amateurs and i follow his career now,, Has decent skills, but i dont like his management, he has been moved way to slow, and it end up being like 18-0 and no have fought anyone, and then get smoked when he steps up.. a Leon Bobo type career for him

Golovkin, Ward, Kovalev looks pretty good from what I've seen. Still have some hopes for Gamboa, but not holding my breath.

Management can be a BIG deal. I feel for the people that have to decide when its "step up" time.

Yes management is key to having a good career..

In the case of george carter jr, he has been fighting guys that are 2-12, 4-9, debut, etc.. His best win to date is over a 4-2 welter and they fought at middleweight..
He did try and land an antuwn echols fight earlier this year but echols bailed at the week of the fight over money issues with promoters.

To truely build a guy, you have to test him at certain stages of his career,,
like whe your 3-0 fight a guy that is 2-1, or when your at 9-0 fight a guy thats 10-3, when your 13-0 fight a guy thats 14-1, then try to line up old faded names till your about 18 or 19-0,, then look for fights to help you get ranked. I dont mind the occassion bum opponent, but when that is all you are fighting for the first 15-18 fights of your career and then suddenly jump onto ESPN or shobox, you can have disasterous result
