4.Tony Tucker - one of two men to go 12 rounds with a prime Tyson and had a win over Buster Douglas.
5.Evander Holyfield -the only non-champion i'll rate that high.
6.Trevor Berbick - went 15 rounds with Holmes, wins over Tate, Page and Thomas.
    7.Pinklon Thomas
    8.Tim Witherspoon
    9.Tony Tubbs
    10.Greg Page

Have to change my 9th and 10th ranking on Weaver and Smith.

The names on the list above - so much talent, but (in most cases) less of dedication.
The biggest waste should be "Terrible Tim" who didn't take a serious approach to his game until it was a bit too late.
Like a lot of Cuban refugee fighters today, who can't resist the temptations the new life in the US offers.

Not long ago, one of the big quality magazines (either Boxing News, Boxing Monthly or The Ring; I’m too lazy checking which now) had an interesting article about the issue.
To maintain discipline when coming to US has been a problem for Cuban fighters – unsurprising, given the different lifestyle each country offers.
If resisting temptations, we should see some more Gamboas and Rigondeauxs entering the rankings.

You've evidently not seen the first fight and are going off of what others have said, because Spinks comprehensively beat Holmes in the first fight.

Some believe Spinks didn't really take the title or take it to Holmes in either fight.

Mike did a good job against Larry but Mikes praise was at lyHvy, one of the best ever!

                Holmes
                Holyfield
                Tyson
                Witherspoon

                ........then the rest
How do you have Holyfield ahead of Tyson in the 80's?? Where is Spinks?

I think sometimes Dokes is underranked but with all those good fighters I can see them higher than him.
