Bert Sugar also notoriously overrates many Oldschool fighters. If you don't have Hopkins in the top 20, there's a problem.Comment

I agree that not having Hopkins in top 20 middleweights of all time would be ridiculous. Currently i'm trying to put a list of the top 50 best middleweights, but only starting from Zale as I want enough video footage of all fighters listed to make a good judgment with comparisons. Haven't placed Hopkins in yet but he is likely in my top 10. Only my top 5 would I definitely pick on a typical day to beat Hopkins.
monzon
hagler
robinson
cerdan
lamotta
Two versions of Robinson at middleweight i'd fancy over Hopkins, 1950-52 Robinson, and roughly 1955-58 Robinson but Hopkins would stand a decent chance against anyone.Comment

I personally don't have Hopkins in my top twenty middleweights so picking him over the Greatest Fighter that ever Lived is silly! Bernard was certainly better then as a middleweight as opposed to the carnival he tours with as a self promoted grand pop of boxing!!'Sugarman has twice as many knockout wins than Bernard has fights!!! Ray.
Ray Robinson right after moving up to MW and going on a crazy streak of good wins would most likely take a points decision over Hopkins. But Hopkins could hang with anyone in his prime imo.Comment

I don't like Hopkins style, I don't like watching him box, but there is no way he is outside the top 20 middleweights, indeed I'd like to see a list of 10 who achieved more at the weight than he did.
You may not like him and his style may not be pleasing to the eye but you can't deny the guy knew ... and still knows how to win.Comment
